Are Chromebooks very safe and secure is a security extension required for keeping it safe?

Chrome OS just like any Linux OS is relatively safe, since it is based on Linux Kernel, however that does not mean there are no risks for Linux user.
Just ensure you are kept within security patches and OS patches and you should be fine, but beware of browsing habits.

Joke apart, Linux based so "supposed" to be safe, not saying that google is well known to heavily rely on the bug bounty system.

@J Gamez065 It's safer in the sense that there's still little incentive for people to target the OS yet.
In any case that the acceptance rate goes up, it'll be like in the recent case of Mac OSX being targeted by ransomware.
And I agree with the rest of the comments here, common sense is the best defense against attacks. :cool:
