Has there been a benefit to the SurfRight family or more a benefit to the Sophos family? Are we going to see a phase out of SR capability and more of an encroachment and necessity to install Sophos AV tools in order to employ the current HPA and HP or will SR continue to be offered as a stand alone "suite"?

As of now, HMP.A is still offered as a standalone at the same rates as it was earlier.
Going forward, no one can predict whether SOPHOS will move to either incorporate HMP.A engine in SOPHOS products and kill HMP.A or will they still offer the product at the same rates, etc, etc.
The more things remain unchanged, the more things change.
Change is the only constant.

SurfRight will remain as company under Sophos, but it's technology will be incorporated into their endpoint solutions.

Sophos Acquires SurfRight to Strengthen and Accelerate Next-Generation Endpoint Protection Leadership
"Sophos will immediately work to integrate the SurfRight technology into its line of endpoint security solutions. Once the integration work has been completed, Sophos will make the technology acquired from SurfRight available via its global network of more than 15,000 channel partners."

By the looks of it, HitmanPro and Alert will remain available to consumers. And current users shouldn't have to worry about switching to different products.

I've heard something about some small changes in the licensing - they are going to offer HMP (without HMP.A) in a cheaper price.
The rest should stay unchanged.

Since Sophos is one of the well reliable decent security company that incorporates endpoint products; hence no issue at all.

As long the stability and performance, will remain same as usual because both care the protection for any user.
