So...what do you think?

I won't use a real-time scanner. My laptop is too slow...and too many scanners detect "cracks".

I generally don't install much suspicious things. If I use any cracks (you don't know if I do or not :p)...it is when I get it from a trusted uploader and others have commented.

Edit: Changed to medium risk. I think I am well protected, but I do download some things which could have malware in them (though it probably won't be able to do much without me noticing).

Edit II: Changed back to low risk. I installed a few new on-demand scanners.

Edit III: Added Wuzzup? to on-demand scanners.

You should change your Level of security risk :). We won't judge you :)

I would recommend sandboxie for "suspicious" activities that you seem to talk about.

Cracks often come packed with malware. I know that you probably see (and believe) a lot of comments: "Antivirus apps always detect keygens/cracks as malware but they are not dangerous". This is sometimes not true.

I would also recommended a full image backup.

Add GeSWall to that and you'll be invincible. ;)

I used to use GeSWall, and still would recommend it. But I think I was upset with the lack of activity on it.

I didn't think there was much risk with D+, if you know how to use it. If I used cracks, I would only use the keygen kind and keep it locked down.

Yes...I've seen many comments about cracks and AVs. First...I let others test it out. :p Then I might use it and block anything suspicious. I know how often malware is included in shared files. But it is rarely in popular downloads and very active/trusted uploaders.

Besides...I don't download software much anyway. I have everything I need.

My files are backed-up locally and remotely. I have looked at some imaging software...but I like starting my laptop from scratch every once and a while.

Well they are good enough without new versions.
You can't improve on perfection. :D

Lol. No software is bug-free...I remember finding some more minor ones, and suggesting features.

I was ignored. :-/

Due to your general computer knowledge I won't start that old speach "What? No Antivirus?" ... Comodo D+ in the hands of a Pro is 100 time stronger then an antivirus.
My suggestions are :

On-demand scanners : Malwarebytes and Hitman Pro
Add to your browser AddBlock
And if you want to test something cool try BufferZone Pro
Also you can install VT Uploader, a program that you can use to quickly upload your "cracks" to virustotal.com :p

I have long planned to install Malwarebytes...but it never had too high priority (and I'm kind of lazy). Or...it could be because I did have it installed, but after a reformat, I didn't consider it important enough to reinstall.

I've read many posts recommending Hitman Pro for removing malware, but since I didn't have any trouble, I didn't use it.

I've had too much trouble with buggy Chrome adblockers. I guess I got spoiled by Firefox's Adblock Plus. So I've put adblockers on hold. (Additionally, I like to let sites earn money by viewing their ads.)

I had VT uploader before. I think I removed it because it slowed (or just cluttered) my right-click context menu.

And BTW...I don't download much cracks. I have everything I need and have tested what I have...so I would rarely need to scan much.

Some AVs aren't helpful with cracks anyway. I know Comodo insists upon detecting cracks, not because they are harmful/malicious, but illegal.

Update: I installed Hitman and Malwarebytes. Just for the occasional on-demand scan. :)

Very good addition.... Both are great on-demand scanners...
Right now I'm trying Emsisoft Free Emergency Kit..it's pretty good :D
It's the a-squared free edition but then with a new name :glasses:

That should be good enough ;), but as you say, you're security level is only "low" so ... I wouldn't worry to much
