First and foremost, the future update will redesign the Home screen with options that make it easier to see your content, so you can scroll vertically to see recently played games, as well as achievements, DVR clips, and find new content.

Xbox Avatars have been greatly improved, Microsoft says, so better image quality and features that were previously available on the Xbox 360 will continue to be offered.

There are also a new guide and an overhauled community section, with the latter boasting options to quickly connect with friends and see the activity feed faster. Microsoft goes on to explain that new scrolling options make it easier to view what games your friends have been playing and check out the latest on Xbox Live.

Cortana finally arriving on Xbox One
But the biggest change is definitely the addition of Cortana for Xbox One, Microsoft’s personal assistant that was previously available on Windows Phone and will soon debut in Windows 10 too.

With Cortana, gamers can find new games, new friends, and perform simple tasks, the company promises.

“Cortana can also help you get achievements by surfacing videos and information to help you succeed. Working across Windows 10 PCs, tablets, phones, Xbox One, and iPhone and Android phones, Cortana can assist you wherever are you are - like setting an important reminder from your phone to receive on your Xbox One when you log on at home,” Microsoft says.

Cortana will launch in the United States and in the United Kingdom first, but more markets should get it next year, when the personal assistant gets support for more languages.
