I came to this website as i'm having a issue with malwares.

Earlier this morning, i started to have problems when using Microsoft Edge, the browser keep open another unknown links when i click.

So i searched online and then installed Malwarebytes, the ran the update and the scan, the scan detected some problems so I removed it, then i restarted my computer.

I thought the stuff in the quarantine are not good for my computer so for some reason i deleted the files in the quarantine too! :(

After that i opened MS Edge to check and now it can't even open! It just close immediately after the window pops up.

Now i have no idea what to do, i haven't done anything to my computer since then. Please help

Oh and i also had a problem started to have when i tried to open the mail app in my windows 10. The app can't sync with my gmail account. When i tried to sync it says the error is: 0x80040154
I found this error when i tried to activate my account to get to this forum, so i don't know if the error occurs after or before i ran the scan with malwarebytes.

Thank you

Hi, I've learned and ran the system restore, it end up with an error message and said that it is not completed due to some anti virus... I'll upload the error message below.

Surprisingly, the Edge seems to be working now... and also Malwarebytes is still in my computer. I don't know why Edge is working again and also I may need some time using it before I know it is out of Malwares.

So after this I'm not quite happy because there seems to be some thing still not right with my laptop. Please I would be extremely thankful if you can help me answer the following questions (some of it could be a bit off this topic, but will be related to security and malwares):

1. Can you check my system and see if my computer is working fine with nothing to be worried? If it is not, please help me fix it

2. I've always been wondering what browser should I use, I'm using a laptop so Speed, Security and Battery saving is my top priority now.
I tried to use Edge because I think it have all of those 3 things, but Edge sometime got me crazy with Typing corrections, also it seems to be lacking off working well with another software such as IDM for example.

3. Now on my computer I have Kaspersky Internet Security (KIS), Malwarebytes and also Adwcleaner, is that too much, KIS seems to protect me well while surfing the internet and stuff but I still sometimes have problems with malwares, Adwcleaner helped most of the time but not all.
Can you give me a list of "should have" programs on my computer in order to provide me the best protection with the least system slowing?
(and also I would prefer free applications that I can get online)

I now it is a lot of questions but as I'm not getting many chances to be helped by such expert in Security like you guys so I'm taking my opportunities right now :D

Thank you very much

Hi, I'm here to update my checking.
Edge works but it still sometime open up new unknown tabs, so I believe the malwares are still there.
My Mail are working fine now.
It's just exactly like before I ran the Malwarebytes scan I think, no more problems with opening Edge and Mail, but the malwares are still there.

Fix with Farbar Recovery Scan Tool

This fix was created for this user for use on that particular machine.

Running it on another one may cause damage and render the system unstable.

Download attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop:

Both files, FRST and fixlist.txt have to be in the same location or the fix will not work!

  • Right-click on
    icon and select
Run as Administrator to start the tool.
(XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File).
  • Press the Fix button just once and wait.
  • If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
  • When finishes FRST will generate a log on the Desktop, called Fixlog.txt.

Please attach it to your reply.

Hi TwinHeadedEagle,

I've done exactly like your instruction, here is the Fixlog.txt file attached to this reply. In order to know if Edge is free of Malwares now I need time using it and will tell you if it is gone.

And if you have time can you please answer the questions in my previous reply, if so I would be extremely thankful.

Thank you

Hi TwinHeadedEagle,

I'm here to report that my Edge is now free from malwares, thank you so much for your help TwinHeadedEagle, I'm so grateful to you!

Just before you close the topic, could you please guide me what should I do in order to prevent my computer to get malwares issues in the future?
I'm currently using Kaspersky Internet Security, Free version of Malwarebytes and also if i have malwares issue I normally will scan with Adwcleaner. Is that enough? Or which anti malwares should I use to give me a fine protection with no system slowing

Again, Thank you so much for your help TwinHeadedEagle.

Since there are no more problems, we can declare this PC clean

Now, we can proceed with post-cleanup procedures. Let's remove my tools and create a new, non infected restore point concurrently deleting old ones.

Step 1. - Creation of system restore point and tools removal.

Download DelFix by Xplode and save it to your desktop.
  • Run the tool by right click on the
icon and Run as administrator option.
  • Make sure that these ones are checked:
    • Remove disinfection tools
    • Purge system restore
    • Reset system settings
  • Push Run and wait until the tool completes his work.
  • All tools we used should be gone. Tool will create an report for you (C:\DelFix.txt). I don't need it for review.
Tool deletes old system restore points and creates a fresh system restore point after cleaning.

Step 2. - Tips and tricks to keep your computer clean, safe and in a good shape.

Security tips - highly recommended reading:

Maintenance tips:

Additional software that I personally use and install on all my clients devices:

  • Zemana AntiMalware (paid version highly recommended) - to work as a supplement for your antivirus but with excellent remediation and protection
  • Zemana AntiLogger - keep everything you type on keyboard out of sight of bad guys trying to steal your credantials
  • Malwarebytes' Anti-Exploit - to prevent plenty of mostly exploited vulnerabilities.
  • McShield - to prevent infections spread by removable media.
  • Unchecky - to prevent from installing additional foistware, implemented in legitimate installations.
  • CryptoPrevent - tool for protection against Cryptolocker and similar ransomware infections.
  • Adblock - to surf the web without annoying ads!
  • Qualys BrowserCheck - cloud service that scans your browsers and plugins to see if they’re all up-to-date.
