Microsoft Edge Released for iOS and Coming Soon to Android

Microsoft Edge was released today for iOS and coming soon for Android. Both of these releases are coming preview mode with only the iOS version available today via the Apple TestFlight program. The Android version is still in beta and will be coming soon.

As Microsoft has not been able to create a sizeable dent in the mobile market, it makes sense to bridge the gap between Windows 10 and the two biggest mobile operating systems; Apple iOS and Google Android. This is most visible with their Continue on PC feature that is available in Insider Preview builds and the upcoming Fall Creators Update.

With this feature, Edge users on iOS and Android will be able to transfer what they are reading or working on to their PC. If they are reading a new article or working on a doc on their mobile phone, they can click a button and transfer it automatically to their PC so they can continue working on it at their computer.

To further increase interoperability between mobile and Windows, Edge will synch your favorites, reading list, history, and books between all devices. Also included in the mobile version of Microsoft Edge is voice search, QR code scanning, and InPrivate browsing.

To get access to the Edge Preview for iOS, you need to be part of the Windows Insider program and using the latest preview build. You can then signup for the Microsoft Edge preview at this page.
