Version: 13.24
Updated: January 21, 2018
Size: 77.47KiB
- An anti-adblock defuser for Nano Adblocker and uBlock Origin
This extension is designed for Nano Adblocker and uBlock Origin and does not work with other adblockers.

If you are using uBlock Origin, there are a few extra installation steps that you need to follow: Nano Defender (a.k.a. uBlock Protector)

Click the extension icon for more information.

Updating is done from Travis Continuous Integration servers, you will always get fresh extension that matches the source.

You can review the source code here: GitHub - jspenguin2017/uBlockProtector: An anti-adblock defuser for Nano Adblocker and uBlock Origin

Nano Defender: Chrome of version at least 59.0 is required.

uBO's author doesn't like my project, I see no reason to keep working for his extension. I rather have my own adblocker and anti-adblock solution perfectly integrated.
I can also finally replace his ugly dashboard and add proper IDE for filter development.

I want more features, so I forked uBO. Check out Nano's repository for features that I want to implement: GitHub - NanoAdblocker/NanoCore: Just another adblocker

...Timer bypassing logic is now moved to Nano Adblocker, uBO users can install the new timer skipping [shortened websites] filter on my home page.
Bypassing of shorte.st will still be implemented in Nano Defender as it requires background scripting.

When I have both Nano Adblocker and Nano Defender, do I still need to have Nano Defender Integration List and Nano Filters? Do I still need to change UserReference?
According to the description of Nano Defender, it seem that we do not need to, but those lists are default in Nano Adblocker. If we should not enable them, why not just give us Nano Defender and remove those lists?

Developer response

You still need to have them enabled, it's just already done in Nano Adblocker. Extra resources are loaded internally so you don't need to change advanced settings.

The best adblock (and anti-anti-adblock) in circulation.
In addition to being light, it performs at 200% its function!
Used in symbiosis with Nano Defender you will no longer have problems with advertising!
Finally available also for mozilla!
Recommended A++!

    Developer response
I need new APIs from Firefox 57 and I don't want to carry more compile flags than I already have. So unfortunately support for older version of Firefox is probably not going to come.

  • I've been waiting for this to come to Firefox! I had to temporarily use Vivaldi because it wasn't there for Firefox which is much quicker and takes so much less memory than Vivaldi (a great browser too, but because of these perks I had to look back for alternatives).
The add on works great with uBlock origin, and it covers my needs in 100%
    Great work and thanks!

In 3rd-party filters you have too:
  • Nano Defender Integration 2,653 used out of 2,752
  • Nano filters 32 used out of 32
  • Nano filters – Annoyance 7 used out of 7
  • Nano filters – Timer bypassing (sometimes works) 139 used out of 139
  • Nano filters – Whitelist 0 used out of 0
So I wrote in the first Post: - cases to notch: Nano Defender Integration, and 4 cases of Nano filters
In the second Post, remark this developer' sentence:
"I can also finally replace his ugly dashboard and add proper IDE for filter development."

Then look on github.com/NanoAdblocker/NanoCore: GitHub - NanoAdblocker/NanoCore: Just another adblocker

it's still on development ...

So which is better? uBlock Origin or Nano Adblocker? And in what ways?

Nano Adblocker. It's uBlock Origin + a few more tricks to better integrate with Nano Defender. Nano Adblocker also has more up to date lists (anti-mining), faster update cycle, configured for privacy out of the box. I would say if you use Nano Defender (and you really should), definitely use Nano Adblocker. If you don't, stick with uBlock Origin.
