Avast blog post:
Avast 2017 protects you from ransomware and other cyber threats

Forum post:
Good news, everyone!

We are happy to announce that new version of AVAST Antivirus (17.1.2286) was born today.
It was a long time since last release in August, but we have more new features for you in this version.

What's new:

- User interface design - simplified navigation, new brand colors, notification center
- Behavior shield - better protection against ransomware by monitoring running programs behavior
- Game mode - new mode that launches automatically when game is started in order to reserve maximum performance for the game and to suppress all unecessary notifications and actions on background
- Free version doesn't require email registration anymore
- Performance improvements - faster website loading and apps launching(optimized hashing algorithms)
- Wi-Fi Inspector - previously called Home Network Security now detects even more problems and vulnerabilities on both home and public networks
- Passwords - faster UI and improved browser integration
- Real Site - new name for SecureDNS, that protects you against fake websites (DNS hijack)

Updated, all went fine. Avast is still light as feather but UI is a lot less responsive than previous one, slow opening and animation actions takes time. Glad they have implemented new behavior shield, other improvements are not that much important for me.

We'll see how the UI finalizes over time. Now they can update it via "casual" definition updates, so expect a few updates to the UI (including bug fixes, e.g Avast account).

I am not sure what they did. I remember correctly that there was a HIPS settings under File System Shield

Now there's no such option, only a Behavior Shield as a separate module

I noticed a problem with avast.
There were a few files which were detected by IDP and moved into Virus Chest. When I tried to delete them, they were not deleted. Tried to delete a few times after closing the UI but no luck. Some of them were deleted, some were not

just updated to the newest version , update went smooth and pretty fast. opening of the gui is not exactely the fastest, takes about 8 seconds to load. but I am sure the devs will do their upmost best to iron these small wrinkles out....nice feeling to have a little bit of my highschool sweetheart AVG incorporated into this realease :D IDP I <3 you!!!! before I forget , my system is still as snappy as it was with the previous version of avast , so that is nice! ;)

Did clean install...overall seems nice...

What I dont like...

1. During install...Minimal Install option doesn't install Behavior Shield
2. I didn't installed Mail Shield But Mail Shield ON/OFF toggle still appears under protection...seems bug?
3. PUP is now disabled by default
4. If you enable PUP in settings, PUP is enabled in all the places except Boot Scan...Bug or Design?
5. I was using previous stable, uninstalled & did clean install of this new version And my license key is not accepted...the key has reached successful activation limit:mad:

UPDATE - The email add I entered with the license code for activation...I checked that email & there was a Avast license file automatically sent by Avast...I tried the license file And it worked fine.
