Ther card on a floral tribute is diplayed at Woolwitch Barracks in London on May 22 after a man believed to be a serving British soldier was brutally murdered - Sharpened Vibr.jpg

Cub scout leader and mom of 2 confronts cleaver-wielding terrorists seconds after they 'BEHEADED' British soldier on London street : http://www.nydailynews.com/news/world/man-murdered-london-terroism-suspected-article-1.1351640
A British soldier was hacked to death Wednesday on a busy London street by a pair of self-proclaimed jihadis wielding knives, cleavers and guns — and ranting about avenging the killing of Muslims.
Several witnesses said the victim was beheaded.
The barbaric slaying unfolded in front of stunned witnesses who said the attackers screamed “Allahu Akbar,” meaning “God is Great” in Arabic, as they wickedly butchered the victim. ..

Photo: Hubble Snaps Stunning View of Iconic Nebula : http://newswatch.nationalgeographic...-hubble-snaps-stunning-view-of-iconic-nebula/
In honor of its launch 23 years ago the Hubble Space Telescope snapped a breathtaking, never-before-seen view of one of the most photogenic cosmic vistas in the night sky.
Dubbed the Horsehead nebula because of its obvious resemblance to a steed or chess piece in profile, this dark cloud of gas and dust sits 1,500 light years from Earth in the winter constellation Orion and has been a favorite target for generations of backyard stargazers.
Now thanks to the Hubble’s infrared vision of its high-resolution Wide Field Camera, we finally get to lift the veil of gas and dust covering a nursery of newborn stars buried within the nebula.
In this new portrait, the nebula’s normally shadowy facade seen in optical light, now appears in infrared light to be transparent, and lit up against a backdrop of more distant bright nebulae and star clusters scattered in our Milky Way galaxy.
The wispy outline along the outer ridge of this distinctively shaped pillar of hydrogen gas and dust glows due to a nearby, hot, young five star system lying just off the frame. ..

This Is the Most Detailed Picture of the Internet Ever (and Making it Was Very Illegal) : http://motherboard.vice.com/blog/this-is-most-detailed-picture-internet-ever
The Internet, as the name suggests and many of you already know, is nothing but the sum of decentralized connections between various interconnected computers that are speaking roughly the same language. To map out those connections and visualize the place where I spend so much of my time may not have any clear use, but it intrigues the pants off me.
An anonymous researcher with a lot of time on his hands apparently shares the sentiment. In a newly published research paper, this unnamed data junkie explains how he used some stupid simple hacking techniques to build a 420,000-node botnet that helped him draw the most detailed map of the Internet known to man. Not only does it show where people are logging in, it also shows changes in traffic patterns over time with an impressive amount of precision. This is all possible, of course, because the researcher hacked into nearly half a million computers so that he could ping each one, charting the resulting paths in order to make such a complex and detailed map. Along those lines, the project has as much to do with hacking as it does with mapping.
The resultant map isn't perfect, but it is beautiful ..

The Near Death Experience: Still Undead: on stevevolk.com : http://stevevolk.com/archives/935
Artery vessel tunnel Sharpened Bright-10.jpg

While other fields within the paranormal seem to fade in and out of the conversation—look at the dearth of psi-related happenings immediately preceding and directly after Daryl Bem’s precognition study—the Near Death Experience nearly always seems to offer some new development to discuss.
Working in its favor, the NDE has a fantastic and ever-growing compendium of cases at the website of the Near Death Experience Research Foundation, run by Dr. Jeffrey Long. But in the months since I finished Fringe-ology there has also been no shortage of news.
Illinois woman Julie Papievis had her NDE story optioned into a film this year by the same production team that made the hit movie The Blind Side. .. ..

Near death, explained (haha ..:D)
New science is shedding light on what really happens during out-of-body experiences -- with shocking results. Here: http://www.salon.com/2012/04/21/near_death_explained/
This article was adapted from the new book "Brain Wars", from Harper One.
In 1991, Atlanta-based singer and songwriter Pam Reynolds felt extremely dizzy, lost her ability to speak, and had difficulty moving her body. A CAT scan showed that she had a giant artery aneurysm—a grossly swollen blood vessel in the wall of her basilar artery, close to the brain stem. If it burst, which could happen at any moment, it would kill her. But the standard surgery to drain and repair it might kill her too.

With no other options, Pam turned to a last, desperate measure offered by neurosurgeon Robert Spetzler at the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Arizona. Dr. Spetzler was a specialist and pioneer in hypothermic cardiac arrest—a daring surgical procedure nicknamed “Operation Standstill.” Spetzler would bring Pam’s body down to a temperature so low that she was essentially dead. Her brain would not function, but it would be able to survive longer without oxygen at this temperature. The low temperature would also soften the swollen blood vessels, allowing them to be operated on with less risk of bursting. When the procedure was complete, the surgical team would bring her back to a normal temperature before irreversible damage set in.

Essentially, Pam agreed to die in order to save her life—and in the process had what is perhaps the most famous case of independent corroboration of out of body experience (OBE) perceptions on record. This case is especially important because cardiologist Michael Sabom was able to obtain verification from medical personnel regarding crucial details of the surgical intervention that Pam reported. Here’s what happened. .. ..
