"Retro gaming fans and Nintendo obsessives, prepare to get excited.

Nintendo is releasing a new version of the NES, its classic consoles originally released in Europe 30 years ago.

The 2016 NES, a near-identical mini replica, comes with 30 NES titles built in, including beloved classics like Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Donkey Kong, PAC-MAN, and Kirby’s Adventure.

It plugs straight into your TV with an HDMI cable, which comes in the box along with an AC adapter and one NES Classic Controller.

“We wanted to give fans of all ages the opportunity to revisit Nintendo’s original system and rediscover why they fell in love with Nintendo in the first place,” said Nintendo of America President and COO Reggie Fils-Aime.

“The Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition is ideal for anyone who remembers playing the NES, or who wants to pass on those nostalgic memories to the next generation of gamers.”

It’s scheduled for release in the US on November 11th, with a recommended price of $59.99 (around £45). Additional controllers will be available for $9.99.

The news comes during a heady week for the Japanese gaming giant. The instant success of the smartphone sensation Pokémon Go sent its shares up by 36pc in two days of trading, adding £6bn to the company’s value."
