We're rounding the home stretch now, with Nvidia's next-generation, GTX 1180 card expected to debut at the very end of July. Anonymous sources also tell Tom's Hardware that Nvidia will use a new VR-friendly connector that will provide much higher refresh rates over a single connection than previously available.

Here's everything we know about Nvidia's upcoming GPU platform.

What kind of performance will GTX 1180 have?

According to TweakTown, the card will be capable of playing 4K games at 120Hz to 144Hz. This kind of speed makes sense, given that Nvidia is also pushing out a series of 144Hz, 4K gaming monitors this summer and it needs a card to power them.

What about VR support?

According to our sources, GTX 1180 will be capable of outputting up to 120Hz to VR headsets at high resolutions over a single cable. To support this high refresh rate, Nvidia will use a new connector.

.. ... .... .....
How much will GTX 1180 cost?

TweakTown guestimates that there will be two variants, a less expensive $999 card and a $1,499 model with more RAM on board. Our sources say that pricing will be higher than the GTX 1080 Ti which carries a $699 MSRP. Nvidia's Titan Xp card, its current high-end consumer GPU, goes for $1,200.

All signs point to August

Nvidia launched its current generation of GeForce gaming GPUs more than two years ago, and we might just see the next generation, rumored to be named the GeForce GTX 11 Series, in August. While Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said the next GeForce GPUs would be “a long time from now” recently, all signs now point toward next month for the launch of the GeForce GTX 1180. Nvidia was supposed to be presenting at the annual Hot Chips conference in August, with a talk entitled “NVIDIA’s Next Generation Mainstream GPU.” Hot Chips curiously scrubbed any mention of this recently.

Nvidia is now reportedly sending invites for Gamescom on August 21st (just as Hot Chips ends) for a mysterious PC-related event. The invites follow a Lenovo product manager freely talking about Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 11 Series during an E3 video. Referring to a Lenovo gaming PC, the Lenovo rep says “but time to market with NVIDIA 11 Series up to an 1180 down the road,” suggesting that Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 1180 is on the way soon. Nvidia also commemorated Alan Turing’s birthday on Twitter, leading many to believe the company is teasing its next-generation GPUs that are based on Nvidia’s Turing platform.

Hopefully these cards will be at MSRP and not 40% above that...

No kidding @TheJokerz ! GPUs cost a fortune! Once the new stuff is release I still foresee the price being pretty high for the older cards. It may take a year if not longer for the "older cards" to become "lower priced". By then everyone will still want the high end cards. Its a never ending revolving door of the latest and greates stuff that becomes "required" or actually needed for doing high end stuff.

@LASER_oneXM thanks for posting this update on the latest cards.

Sincerely,

Brian

It looks like NVIDIA has allegedly released details to their AIB partners for their next-generation GeForce 11 series graphics cards. The new cards have long been rumored for arrival in Q3/Q4 of 2018 and it looks like we finally have some proper information of when the new graphics cards would be released for gamers.

NVIDIA GeForce 11 Series Allegedly Arriving Next Month – Green Team To Kick off The Party With The GTX 1180 Flagship, GTX 1170 and GTX 1160 To Follow Up

The details come from the YouTuber, Gamer Meld, who allegedly received an email from an NVIDIA board partner. The email mentions at least four GeForce 11 series graphics cards along with their release dates. The GeForce 11 series graphics cards mentioned in the email include the following:

  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1180 (30th August Release Date)
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1180+ (30th September Release Date)
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1170 (30th September Release Date)
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1160 (30th October Release Date)

The performance speculation is about to begin, over the weekend a screenshot surfaced showing a 3DMark FireStrike result, in that result set a GeForce GTX 1170 listed as well as some specifications. We have a thing or two to talk about in this news item.

Let me first begin by saying, there's a big red flag on the screenshot posted (which leaked through Wccftech) who spotted it on a polish website. Really the screenshot should not be listing the actual name GeForce GTX 1170, but rather 'Generic VGA device', so a huge pile of salt is recommended while reading this.

Regardlessly, with a properly supported driver, the listing could be true. And if that is the case then an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1170 Turing GPU, read that well 1170 and not 1180, should be faster than a GeForce GTX 1080 Ti.
