My secret alternative phone is a Chinese one, cheap at $89ish, powerful, and I know I won't be surveilled by local actors when I use it but I do ensure my communications and storage are third party encrypted. My daily drivers are a disliked iPhone X that my employer hands out and a personal (well liked) Samsung Galaxy s8. Neither of those I have ANY illusions of privacy on and act accordingly.

The androids all use fake, keygen named Google Accounts generated with a Neverware USB boot account creation to bypass Google phone number requirement.

I've had it since last year, it's more than sufficient to run any app perfectly fine and what I paid it was a steal. If I want power, I stick to Samsung, but if I want privacy from local surveillance, I carry around the XGody and it serves it's purpose and looks great. Also it's handy exercising in case it flies away from my body I could care less, or if I am in less than stellar cities and I need to run the opposite direction I throw it, I won't care. :D

As daily drivers I'd never use Chinese trash and would pony up for a real phone. If I showed up to work, or conventions with a Chinese dump phone I'd be a subject of endless jokes.

Ha ha. I have an S8 and I have to admit I do love it. It's the best looking proper phone on the market in my opinion, that screen is just so immersive it's beautiful.

Then I guess it's safe to assume that if one chinese phone maker is spying on you, all chinese phone makers are spying on you.

This brings back the argument during the kaspersky spying case, where the governement suspected kaspersky of spying on them for russia.

With this thought process, US citizens are going to have much lesser choices when it comes to software or hardware because of all this fear mongering.

I will be sad if US banned Huawei because Huawei will be my next cellphone. I need that 4000mah battery. Huawei Mate 9 is a sweet deal unlock for GSM and CDMA.

I am using Samsung Galaxy S7 at the moment and the battery is decent. Not the best if you are a heavy user or a social media user.

@ForgottenSeer 58943 , are the encryption methods you use easy to do ? Remember i am only a novice and don't know much on how to do these things so please don't think i'll be offended if you think it is beyond me, i can live with the shame :giggle:. Also could you explain a bit more about how to bypass the number requirement thingy (in simple terms) I know i have gone a bit O/T but i am interested in your postings even though i don't understand it fully.
