1) Installation and registration

When installing the First Aid Kit, you must choose whether to use a DVD or a USB flash drive to start and repair your computer. Depending on this, you can run either the “First Aid Kit – burn to DVD.exe” file or the “First Aid Kit – install on USB” file .exe «. Both procedures are very similar, so we will focus on installing the First Aid Kit on a USB flash drive.

In the first step it is necessary to confirm your agreement with the license conditions and in the next step enter the license number. Then the Win32Disk Imager will start, where you need to select the disk (»Device«) to install the First Aid Kit. The connected USB flash drive is usually detected automatically. Then continue with »Write«. Win32 Disk Imager notifies you to overwrite the contents of the used USB flash drive and then creates a rescue boot disk.

2) Start the rescue disc

The procedure for booting the computer from the rescue DVD or USB flash drive differs depending on the motherboard manufacturer or the installed boot environment (BIOS / UEFI). When starting the computer, it is necessary to press the appropriate function key (usually [Esc], [F10], [F12], etc.) and then select the USB flash drive or DVD as the boot media. Then continue by selecting »Boot SECUPERTS – First Aid Kit«. You can also use the »Safe startup« option to start the rescue environment in a limited hardware configuration, but this may not be necessary. The result of booting is the launch of a tool selection environment from the First Aid Kit.

3) Recover deleted files

SECUPERTS First Aid Kit – Recovery
One of the most important features of the First Aid Kit is rescuing data from accidentally deleted, reformatted, or damaged disks. The advantage is that the First Aid Kit only works in the computer’s operating memory, so you can’t damage data files on your disk by installing data rescue software that can no longer be recovered. Using the »Recover lost files« function is easy, just select the source disk with lost data (»Source device«) and the destination disk for saving rescue files (»Target device«). It must be a different physical disk, otherwise, the data recovery process will not even start.

4) Backing up and cloning data

The First Aid Kit also includes a data backup function, which can be found under the »Backup your data« menu. This feature is not suitable for regular backups, but especially for one-time copying of data from a computer disk that, for example, refuses to start the operating system and make files available to you in the usual way. In the wizard, you only need to specify to which disk you will copy the data, or whether you will use cloud storage for backup. Then a window will open with the contents of the local disk and storage media for saving the backup, or a web browser window, where you will log in to the cloud storage and copy the data.

The »Clone your hard disk« function is also useful, creating an exact copy of the selected source disk. With this feature, you transfer the Windows installation, all applications, and user settings and data to a new disk. You can also use this feature to convert the contents of the old HDD to the new SSD without having to completely reinstall your computer. You can also convert content from a disk that has errors to a new one.

5) Antivirus scan

Virus Scan
The »Search for viruses« function allows you to scan your computer for malicious software without starting the operating system. Thanks to this, it is possible to detect even well-hidden rootkits, which antivirus under Windows cannot handle. Before scanning, select the disks and partitions to be scanned, the antivirus will automatically update itself from the Internet and perform a careful scan.

6) Erasing discs and other functions
