Security breaches don't lead to a change in IT policy

A survey conducted by training company QA, reveals that eight out of ten (81 percent) UK IT decision makers experienced some sort of data or cyber security breach in their organization in 2015. Sixty-six percent said that the breach had led to a loss of data, 45 percent said that it had resulted in a loss of revenue, and 42 percent said that it had resulted in a PR nightmare for the business.

Despite this, however, less than a third (27 percent) plan to invest in cyber security technologies next year. It would also appear that not all organizations have learnt from their experience, with less than half (43 percent) of IT decision makers saying that the breach had not resulted in a change of policy and procedure.

It's sorry to say a worldwide plague with way too many incompetent coffee slurping CEO wannabes that gets way too much power and genuine don't have a clue how to actually implement security. Many of them can't even spell the word policy. No wonder where they exist when for example Bank sites starts to enforce there customers music ads and all other crap.

Well I work in an IT company and they treat security very seriously. Including encryption, limited user access with admins monitoring PC activity every moment. Even we had to go through Airport like security to reach our work place.

Of course there are serious companies but ...

Companies living the same situations of individual users, with results that could be devastating. The major concerns include:

Identity theft.

Administrators may be affected and their login data compromises. Anyone could take control of the company account and carry out all kinds of action, including the organization of events by sending malicious links or post information with devastating effect.

Risk of infection.

Cyber criminals may take advantage of some features of the platforms to send users to dangerous sites. In the case of big companies, this can be done in attacks designed specifically to target users computer and log on to the network and all internal information. In addition, hackers could post links containing malware on profiles, encouraging the spread of threats.

It is evident that such actions could jeopardize the integrity of a company.

Security and privacy should always be the highest priority at all, unfortunately some IT department take it for granted until time come when someone attack the system where reports occurred immediately like a fire and create solution immediately.
