Why not? You can give it a try with their 15-day trial.
Ever since I come to MT, I literally install and uninstall several of security software. Some of them I never heard of. E.g. EAM/EIS, Bitdefender, ESET, Webroot, NVT, Sandboxie etc...
That way I can find my best fit.

I have a one year testing license because I shown them proof that I test their products, I just don't know whether to use it on my actual computer

If you test their products then you should know whether or not to use it.
They aren't bad programs which you can run alongside something else.
Since you have a key try it out.

I test them against zero-day malware and malicious executables, I do not know what performance impact it does or if it is worth running, I just know its scanning and detection capabilities

Performance impact depends on your system which the only way to know it's impact is to run it on your machine.
What did you test them on? VM or testing PC? Personally the scanning and detection capabilities are more of a deciding factor than system impact.Although it is an important part of the equation the only way to know that answer for sure is to run it on your own machine.

I ran it on a VM

Yes you may run both as they have different concepts at all.

Now in the case of test, well make your own conclusion based on your findings.

Majority of experience the system performance stability should work well on your productive environment but detection capabilities is already a different story.

I've added Zemana antimalware free to my second opinion on demand scanners and been pleased so far. It found some dodgy root certificates nothing else found, and I couldn't find an other product to test them with that Webroot wouldn't choke and throw a fit at so I can't be sure if Zemana was being overly aggressive or not and let it delete the certs. Machine didn't burst into flames yet so all is well.

No idea yet how their real time protection compares to other products, sorry. I do like the scanner though.

Realtime protection is working, I tested it against keygens. Also very light, and has very high detection rates. I have a lifetime license!
