Qualcomm partners like Acer and Sharp have already announced new Chromebooks based on the Snapdragon 7c and more are likely to follow, especially considering the platform’s competitive performance, impressive battery life, and optional LTE cellular connectivity.

The systems evaluated in the report included a premium Snapdragon 7c Reference Platform with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB internal storage and a Snapdragon 7c Education Reference Design with 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB storage, which is a popular configuration in many school systems across the U.S. The competitive solutions included two Acer Chromebook Spin 311 machines, one based on the Intel Celeron N4020 (with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB storage) and another based on the MediaTek MT8183 (also with 4 GB of RAM, but 32 GB storage). The final system was a HP Chromebook x360, based on the Intel Pentium Silver N5030 (with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB storage).

As the results show, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7c systems offered far superior battery life than any of the other platforms tested. Both of the Snapdragon 7c reference platforms far outlasted the MediaTek 8183-powered Chromebook, despite the MediaTek’s systems significantly lower overall performance throughout the benchmark tests. Also note that the Snapdragon 7c Education Reference Design lasted more than twice as long as the Pentium Silver-based system, despite the latter having a 36% larger battery.
