I have found programs that are great for showing me the action on my computer.

What I would really like is a program that would tell me just who is behind the action. What program, for example, was creating this avalanche of temporary files that went on for many hours? Of course being able to know what program is depositing files on my computer would be great for malware investigation.

The best way to post images here at MT is to use Imgur and use their BB codes. Never fails. ;)

I do that a lot, but I'm not able to right now. I pasted the image in from my clipboard. It shows up for me as I view this thread. Can you see it, frogboy?

Thanks. I have that program. Does anybody know a software or a method that lets me go beyond that and find out what is the program doing the placing of files on my system?

Can't see the image at all. However I may have a solution for your problem, but problem is you would have to do this when the program makes those files, i.e. in realtime.
Open 'Resource Monitor', switch to 'Disk' tab. Go down to 'Disk Activity', click on arrow right to it. There you will see every program reading/writing from/to disk. You can sort it too, to make what you are finding easy. I hope it helps. :)
