Canonical will publish Ubuntu 14.10 (Utopic Unicorn) tomorrow, and most of the flavors under the Ubuntu umbrella will also make an appearance.
The latest Ubuntu version has been in development for the last six months and it's one of the tamest releases made so far. Despite the fact that it has a codename that is either loved or hated, Ubuntu 14.10 will be a small improvement over the Ubuntu 14.04 LTS version, and lots of users have already said that they won't be getting the new one just yet.
This is something that usually happens after the release of an LTS version, and in the case of Ubuntu, the 14.04 iteration is one of the best made by Canonical until now. It's easy to understand why people don't want to upgrade just yet. As we get further and further away from Ubuntu 14.04, users will start adopting the upcoming versions, especially if they bring something new.
Ubuntu 14.10 (Utopic Unicorn) is almost here
Many users are focused on the launch that will be made tomorrow for the official Ubuntu flavor, but there are a few others that deserve the same kind of attention, such as Kubuntu, Lubuntu, Xubuntu, Ubuntu GNOME, and Ubuntu Kylin. A few of the other flavors, Edubuntu, Mythbuntu, and Ubuntu Studio don't participate in this release because they only follow the LTS schedule.
