Hello!
very new to this, not even sure if I am posting in the right area. But I do I have a problem with my mac mini (early 2009) I am using OS 10.10.5. I clicked on a link in my email. ( yeah I know stupid move ) It took me to a porn site, within seconds I got a spinning wheel, then it stopped. got out as fast as I could. ( which I am sure in the computer world was way to late.) My computer started to move very slowly.....
I noticed on the bottom of a open folder it read I have 500 meg left on my hard drive. and I got a warning window that my start up disc is very low. I went to my about this mac window and the "other" usage indicator took up the entire bar...which is crazy! Before I clicked on the link in my email I know I had like 25-27 Gigs left on a 120 gig HD. I ran "clean my mac and malwatrebyes they both recovered less than 500 megs of space. Any and all help will be appreciated!! and yes I already know I am stupid for clicking on a link in my email I didn't recognize right away. THANk YOU in advance.

Thank you Techienerd1 for the reply. But this was not a "slow over time" drain. the drain of HD space was very quick. I used "Clean my mac" and "malwatrebyes" before I posted here. They both found somethings to trash, but I believe it found things that had accumulated over time, and not the cause of the very fast "full up of space". Over 20gigs in like 5 mins. I am just going to bite the bullet and wipe the HD. and set up better protection in the future. Thanks again.

Do you still have a copy of the email/link you clicked? We might be able to provide more information about the malware sample (if any)

Also to find all files created/modified since you clicked the link follow the guide below

Select the drive or folder you want to search.
- Select "Find..." from the File menu.
- On the kind drop box select "Last modified date" or "created date".
- Select the rest of the search criteria and the files that fall within that criteria will appear in the search finder window.
You can also combine the search critieria to include both modified and create dates by clicking the "+" button on the search criteria line and adding the other criteria.

Wingman! That was a awesome suggestion. unfortunately, do to the continuing dropping of space on my hard drive ( I had to keep trashing GOOD files to keep from crashing from lack of memory ) I got frustrated and just wiped my Hard drive. that stopped it.
I do not have the email, That I trashed right away.
Thank you very much for taking the time to try and help! I will try to safe guard my computer, and be more vigilant in the future!
