Website URL screenshot, thumbnail service, web page URL link capture thread here ..

First look at website URL link screenshot or thumbnail, before clicking on the unknown and not sure URL link - it's better for your security. Looking first a URL as an image, helps you to filter malicious websites. Know where unknown link is going before you click, look before you click. In real-time.

Web page URL capture you can get with online services, or search engine thumbnail previews ..

Search engines with thumbnail previews :

* search engine - the search results with thumbnails:
TIP: If you want to see thumbnail of your link, you can also change the thumb on the home page, by changing its URL.

* LYCOS search:

* RedZ :

Other possibilities:

* Use WebShot (free version too ..):
WebShot allows you to take screenshots of web pages and save them as full sized images or thumbnails. Screenshots images can be output in the JPG, GIF, PNG, or BMP formats.
The freeware version comes with a demo of the command line interface, which can be purchased, and used to streamline the screenshot process on whole websites. The server edition of WebShot comes with a DLL that will allow you to embed WebShot technology in your own applications.
In the Features, read:
'Blocks most popups (javascript popups, script dialogs, injected via wmp popups, etc)' - so if no thumbnail - you see why ..

* Download SearchPreview add-on for Firefox or Chrome: on home page :
SearchPreview version 6.2 by Edward Ackroyd - is the browser extension previously known as GooglePreview.
SearchPreview inserts preview images (thumbnails) of web sites into the Google, Bing, Yahoo search results pages. See a preview image of every search result before you click. Thumbnails are created and provided by SearchPreview servers. link:

In the thread: Free Online On-demand URL Security Scanners :
- look on post #1, I wrote:

- Also it's a good idea to test your suspicious links - in a website URL link screenshot online service like these I have carefully chosen:

* Shotbot:

* IE NetRenderer: (if no snapshot - so your link is very suspicious ..)

* thumbalizr:

* (if no snapshots - so your link is very suspicious ..)

* ShrinkTheWeb:

* BrowserShots:

Another good visual search engine with big thumbnail previews I found: : is a 'visual' search engine - results are displayed as images or pictures of websites, rather than as blocks of text ..

PS. Other URL link screenshot services:

Site2Pic: Give me a web page URL and I'll give you the current image of it and a link to that image. Take Screenshots of Websites and Share Them Easily :

- Hmm, and what to think about Wayback Internet Archive website living 'screens' ?.. :
To start surfing the Wayback, type in the web address of a site or page where you would like to start, and press 'Take Me Back' enter button. Then select from the archived dates available. The resulting pages point to other archived pages at as close a date as possible.
- Take Me Back, please ..

Another useful extension, especially for Google / Android / Chrome users, and integrates with Google Drive.

The Save to Google Drive Chrome extension helps you save web content or browser screen-shots to your Google Drive.
  • Adds a browser action to save the current page.
  • Adds a right-click context menu to save hyper-links, documents, images, HTML5 audio and video, convert Office to Docs format
  • Configurable through an options page.
To save a file:// URLs, or to enable in incognito mode, go to chrome://extensions/ and enable the associated checkbox.

  • Due to security restrictions, this extension cannot capture chrome:// pages or Chrome Web Store pages.

Download (Chrome Web Store): Save to Google Drive
