Africa is becoming the center of attention these days, with developments in almost every sector. Paradoxically, poverty is very present there. The ideal combination for cyber attacks. On one side lots of money to be made, on the other, lack of education in the IT field and other sectors to find methods for dealing with these attacks.
Easy and juicy targets.
If I was a criminal in the West, I would certainly target financial institutions in the third world. Easy money.
Given the attack on IT security by various "intelligence" services around the world, before too long, Western banks will become juicy targets as well, and other sectors too will be compromised.

Plus there is another Ebola outbreak going on the the Congo right now and since there are over 50 rebel goups fighting there, the aid workers are hampered.
