There's a point of having a right click scan can do it well however I think read/write is a much better option in order to prevent any malicious action.

There's a point that the code itself are literally same and only infects when execute but the thing here most users are wanted to open instead to double check already. So one click stands as read must detected already.

My observation for that. :)

On-access scanner is not needed with Avast because it has the File Shield which will detect anything that tries to run in your system memory.
