According to the official Boot Camp support document, Apple dropped support for the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system in its new MacBook Pro Retina 13-inch Early 2015 and MacBook Air 11-inch/13-inch Early 2015 models. Only the Windows 8 operating system is currently supported on these models.

This news should not come as a surprise to Mac owners who want to install the Windows operating system from Microsoft on their MacBook computer, alongside Mac OS X, because it is a known fact that Apple drops support for various Windows OSes in the Boot Camp software from time to time.

Boot Camp is a pretty cool software that is included in every MacBook, allowing users to easily and quickly install various versions of the Microsoft Windows operating system and dual boot with the existing Mac OS X operating system that is installed by default.

Only the Windows 8 64-bit is supported on the latest MacBook models
Apple removed support for the Windows 7 32-bit operating system back in 2013, starting with MacBook Pro Retina 15-inch Early 2013 and MacBook Air 11-inch/13-inch Mid 2013 models, forcing users to install only the 64-bit version.

If you have MacBook Air 11-inch/13-inch Early 2014 or MacBook Pro Retina 13-inch/15-inch Mid 2014 or earlier models, you can still install the Windows 7 operating system via Boot Camp. Detailed instructions on how to install Windows on your MacBook are provided here.

These are the officially supported Windows operating systems in Boot Camp
The list of officially supported Windows operating systems that can be installed on MacBooks via Boot Camp includes Windows XP Home Edition and Professional with SP2 and SP3, Windows Vista Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate editions with SP1, Windows 7 Home Premium, Professional and Ultimate editions, as well as Windows 8 and 8.1, including Pro editions.
