Gamers will need a good network setup to use it
With the launch of Windows 10 all gamers who own a Xbox One and want to stream action from the home console to the PC can do so using the dedicated app and it seems that Microsoft has even included a special High Quality options that gamers will need to unlock.

A post on Reddit, from OomaThurman, explains that gamers will have to go into the folder of the special application in order to change the IsInternalPreview value from False to True.

Normally the Xbox One app is available in:

C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.XboxApp_~~~~~~\LocalState

The name used for the value that needs to be changed might be a suggestion that Microsoft is testing Very High quality for streaming and might make it an official option at a later date.

Those who are using it and reporting on Reddit are saying that gamers who want to get improved quality for the streaming content will need to have some solid network gear to handle the increased load.

The Very High options is apparently delivering full 1080p images from the Xbox One to the Windows 10 machine and Microsoft still has some problems with consistency to solve.

Streaming will soon also work in the other direction
It seems that many gamers have embraced the streaming options in the app and Microsoft says that it has plans to introduce an option to deliver content from the Windows 10 machine to the Xbox One at some point in the future.

The company is aiming to create a complex gaming ecosystem around the two devices, giving players who have both a host of options for interactions.

What Microsoft does not plan to do at the moment is to eliminate the need for exclusives for the Xbox One.

The company still plans to keep some franchises linked to the home console, although statements from Phil Spencer are suggesting that the situation might change at some point in the future.

Microsoft is still having problems catching up to the PlayStation 4 from Sony in terms of overall sales but it is hoping that the launch of Halo 5: Guardians, Forza Motorsport 6 and Rise of the Tomb Raider will make the Xbox One more competitive in the run-up to Christmas.
