A lot of Xbox One users are currently experiencing problems with their Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare pre-download, with multiple reports indicating that the updating process gets stuck at a certain point and won't progress any further.

Many Xbox One owners are unable to start up and play their digitally downloaded copy of Sledgehammer Games' Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, and Microsoft's solution to this problem will surely please no one; the company advises users experiencing this problem to download the entire 46 GB video game client again.

Some users also note that a hard reset of the Xbox One home console could also solve the issue. If you are unfamiliar with the procedure, a hard reset is performed by pressing and holding the Xbox button on the front of the unit for 10 seconds while it is turned on, and then waiting for a couple of minutes and turning it back on.
Reports started surfacing last night
The issues were first reported last night, with several users claiming that the game got stuck on a certain percentage upon installing, without progressing any further, rendering them unable to enjoy the newest entry in the popular first-person shooter saga.

The issue, however, does not seem to be too widespread, which is good news, as the official instructions on how to deal with it are deleting the game and restarting the massive download, even after the actual fault has been addressed.

"We've received reports that some users are having issues getting their pre-ordered copy of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. We're happy to say that our team has fixed the problem, but if you are still experiencing any issues, delete the game and re-download it. Thanks for your patience while we got this issue worked out. Have fun!" the Microsoft support site reads.
A minor hitch but a major disappointment for many
Even if the issue isn't affecting everybody, many users are still understandably ticked off. Many gamers have downloaded the title in advance in order to circumvent any potential launch day issues and network bottlenecks, and their efforts are now in vain.

Having no option but to download the entire 46 GB client once again can put a serious dampener on many gamers' plans, as it can take upwards of a day for the transfer to complete, and some users might also have to deal with data cap surcharges and other such nuisances.

Hopefully, Microsoft has learned an important lesson for this and will prevent such issues from arising for future digital releases, as having to download the entire package again negates the entire point of the newly introduced pre-download feature.
