Smart PC Cleaner is a paid system optimizer program that is typically added when you install another free software (video recording/streaming, download-managers or PDF creators) that had bundled into their installation this program. Very often users have no idea where did it come from, so it’s not surprising at all that most of them assume that Smart PC Cleaner is a virus. This program is also bundled within the custom installer on many reputable download sites, so if you have downloaded a software from these websites, chances are that Smart PC Cleaner was installed during the software setup process.

Smart PC Cleaner it’s technically not a virus, but it does exhibit plenty of malicious traits, such as rootkit capabilities to hook deep into the operating system, browser hijacking, and in general just interfering with the user experience. The industry generally refers to it as a “PUP,” or potentially unwanted program.
Some examples of the interface, fake alerts, fake scanning results, and pop-ups displayed by Smart PC Cleaner are shown below:

The Windows registry is a database that Windows and its applications store their settings in. It contains hundreds of thousands of entries. Some of the entries may be slightly outdated — maybe you’ve uninstalled a program and it left a key or two behind, or maybe a there’s a file extension with no associated application.
Smart PC Cleaner scan your registry for these outdated entries and offer to remove them. Because there are so many registry entries to go through, this program may sometimes also remove useful registry entries, causing you problems. The Web is full of stories from people who have run a registry cleaner and encountered problems. In a best case scenario, Smart PC Cleaner will remove a few hundred unnecessary entries and reduce the size of your registry by a few kilobytes. This makes no different in perceptible performance.
If you must use a registry cleaner, you don’t have to pay anything. Using a free registry cleaner, such as the registry cleaner included with the respected CCleaner utility, is good enough.

You should always pay attention when installing software because often, a software installer includes optional installs, such as this Smart PC Cleaner. Be very careful what you agree to install.
Always opt for the custom installation and deselect anything that is not familiar, especially optional software that you never wanted to download and install in the first place. It goes without saying that you should not install software that you don’t trust.

Thanks for all your tips but I found a way easier way to uninstall this Smart PC scanning software.

Even though if you try to download it (maybe assuming it gives you a free cleanup , which is not so) this program on its own, it says one of its limitations is that it doesn`t come with uninstall, (supposedly to force you to try it for ‘free’) which is also not true. The program itself will pop up on its own on every start up of your pc, but you won’t find it listed along with all your other applications nor will it show up on the uninstalling programs option of the Control Panel (Windows XP, and earlier from what I see on this malware.com page).

What you do is quite simple: Go to your hard disk where you have your programs installed (usually C) and find the Programs folder (sometimes it comes like x86Programs or similar). Go through it until you find a folder named SmartPC. Click on this folder and you will find a file named uninstall; click on it and you are done for!
