EnigmaWave EXPOSED: .EnigmaWave Files, Readme.txt, and @Enigmawave_support

You open Documents the way you did yesterday. The first photo should still be 1.jpg. The report should still be report.docx. The invoice should still be invoice-2026.pdf. The tax sheet should still be taxes.xlsx. Instead every familiar name has extra pieces stuck on the end: an inbox, a string of letters, and a second ending. 1.jpg is now 1.jpg.Enigmawave@zohomail.com.KXRP0XGHXIJA.EnigmaWave. A small text file named Readme.txt is sitting in the same folder, as if it has always belonged there.
That is the trap, not a glitch.
This page is for the hour those names appear. It is not a miracle key. It is a map of the trap, so the note does not become your incident plan.

Overview
EnigmaWave ransomware locks the files first. Then it keeps the old name and the old type, and hangs a long stamp on the end. The stamp is the inbox Enigmawave@zohomail.com, then a unique ID, then .EnigmaWave. In the published sample, 1.jpg becomes 1.jpg.Enigmawave@zohomail.com.KXRP0XGHXIJA.EnigmaWave. Then it drops Readme.txt and talks like a recovery desk. The note is a storefront. It says the network was penetrated. It says backups and shadow copies were removed. It tells you not to reset or shut down. It tells you not to delete the readme. It offers two random files decrypted for free. It says you will receive a btc address for payment in the reply letter. UniqueID and PublicKey sit on the page as labels. In the published sample those lines are blank.
If you are staring at a pile of names ending in .EnigmaWave and that text note, you are in a ransom incident, not a broken disk and not a Windows pop-up. The folder is the evidence. The note is a checkout. Stay with the folder, not with the script.
The first tell is the rename. EnigmaWave does not hide the original filename behind a code. It keeps the old name and the old type, then builds a long extra ending. Inbox, unique ID, extension. In the sample used for this page, 1.jpg becomes 1.jpg.Enigmawave@zohomail.com.KXRP0XGHXIJA.EnigmaWave. report.docx becomes report.docx.Enigmawave@zohomail.com.KXRP0XGHXIJA.EnigmaWave. invoice-2026.pdf becomes invoice-2026.pdf.Enigmawave@zohomail.com.KXRP0XGHXIJA.EnigmaWave. taxes.xlsx becomes taxes.xlsx.Enigmawave@zohomail.com.KXRP0XGHXIJA.EnigmaWave. family.mp4 becomes family.mp4.Enigmawave@zohomail.com.KXRP0XGHXIJA.EnigmaWave. You can still read what the file used to be. You cannot open it. Windows may call the type an ENIGMAWAVE File and offer a useless “choose an app” box. An app cannot talk locked bytes back into a JPEG.
The second tell is the note. After the files are locked, the malware drops Readme.txt into the same folders. Readme sounds like documentation. A .txt ending is something Windows already trusts. Put them together and the first English you can still read after the photos break is a sales flyer. The flyer is meant to be opened. It is not meant to be trusted.
The body of that sample talks like a recovery desk that already finished the job. It says the network was penetrated. It says backups and shadow copies were removed. It tells you not to reset or shut the machine down. It tells you not to delete the readme. It offers two random files decrypted for free. Contact is Telegram @Enigmawave_support and email Enigmawave@zohomail.com. It tells you that you will receive a btc address for payment in the reply letter. There is no Bitcoin wallet printed on the note. There is no ransom figure printed on the note. UniqueID is blank. PublicKey is blank. This page will not invent either one. This page will not invent a wallet. This page will not invent a price.
This is also not the old Enigma ransomware, and it is not Enigma stealer. Old Enigma used enigma_info.txt and a .1txt ending. A stealer is a different animal. A folder of names ending in .EnigmaWave plus Readme.txt plus @Enigmawave_support is this locker. Do not mix the three when you search, when you write a report, or when a stranger quotes the word Enigma at you.
That is the whole costume. A locked folder of long .EnigmaWave names that still show the old file in front. A Readme.txt file that talks like a recovery brief. A network-penetrated shout. A backups-and-shadow-copies leash. A ban on reset. A ban on deleting the note. A two-file “free” decrypt. Telegram and email as the door. A Bitcoin address that is not on the page, promised later in a reply. Blank UniqueID. Blank PublicKey. There is no public free decryptor known for this strain. There is no reason to message that handle today because a text file told you to.
The .EnigmaWave name is the first warning
Most lockers pick a short extra ending so you notice the change in seconds. EnigmaWave uses a long stamp. The extra cruelty is how readable the listing still stays. You do not have to decode anything. You can still see 1.jpg inside 1.jpg.Enigmawave@zohomail.com.KXRP0XGHXIJA.EnigmaWave. You can still see the word report. You can still see the invoice year. You can still see the word taxes. The familiar words are still in the folder. The files are not familiar anymore.
The stamp does three jobs at once. The inbox in the name, Enigmawave@zohomail.com, advertises the aisle before you even open the note. The unique ID in the published sample, KXRP0XGHXIJA, makes the listing look like a ticket. The final .EnigmaWave brands the family. Together they look like a case number sitting on every photo. They are still a label. They are not a repair.
Do not treat that readable name as a fix. Do not strip .EnigmaWave off the end and expect Photos or Excel to open the file. Do not trim the inbox out of the middle. Do not run a bulk “extension fixer” you found in an ad. The name is a label. The lock is in the content. Editing the label can make a later trusted tool have a harder time matching the file to what it was. Leave the locked copies as they are until you have a clean machine and a plan that does not start in Telegram.
The extra ending also does advertising. Anyone who sees report.docx.Enigmawave@zohomail.com.KXRP0XGHXIJA.EnigmaWave next to Readme.txt can pretend they already have your case. A later fake helper will quote the inbox back to you as if that were expertise. The stamp is public. It is sitting in the folder. Quoting it proves nothing except that they can read a listing.
Readme.txt is a sales floor, not a help file
The ransom note is a plain text file with a name that sounds like documentation. Readme.txt wants the first click after the panic. Plenty of real software drops a readme. This one uses that habit against you. It is meant to be the first English you can still read when the photos will not open.
Double-clicking it opens Notepad. That is why a panicked first click feels like opening the help page. It is not help. It is the demand, written so it looks official enough to follow. The filename is built to look like paperwork. Readme. A .txt ending Windows already trusts. Paperwork is easier to obey than a threat.
Keep the file on disk. Then close it. Do not treat it as a set of steps you should follow. Do not tidy the filename. Do not rename it to README in all caps because other families do that. Copy Readme.txt the way you would copy a serial off a stolen laptop. That string is how a responder matches this locker. It is not a coupon you redeem by messaging @Enigmawave_support.
Network penetrated is a shout, not a lab report
The note says the network was penetrated. That line is not a diagnosis you should take at face value. It is a headline. It does the same job a fake breaking-news banner does on a scare page. It names the disaster in adult language so the rest of the flyer feels like the only grown-up in the room. You are supposed to stop thinking and start obeying.
A home Documents folder can still get that sentence. A single PC can still get that sentence. The word network is there to make a kitchen-table incident feel like a company breach. Believe the risk enough to treat the machine as hostile. Do not believe the sentence enough to start a Telegram thread so they can “explain the penetration.” Naming a breach is not the same as handing you a proof. It is also not a reason to start mailing files into an inbox they own.
The shout also travels. Search ads will recycle it. Commenters will paste it. A later “EnigmaWave helper” will recite network penetrated so they sound close to your folder. Reciting a headline is not a decryptor. It is proof they can read. Keep the line as an identifier when you describe the incident. Do not treat it as a briefing you have to answer.
Backups and shadow copies is a leash
The note says backups and shadow copies were removed. That pair is meant to shut down the next thought you were about to have. If yesterday’s copy is gone, then their chat is the only aisle. If shadow copies are gone, then System Restore starts to feel childish. The sentence is still attacker copy. It is not a lab result. It is not a reason to skip copies that were never mounted. It is not a reason to skip a trusted decryptor project later if one appears.
Do not test their claim by plugging in the only spare drive you have. Do not “check” a USB stick that still holds the real photos. Checking is how the extra copy gets the same long .EnigmaWave stamp. Unplug extra disks. Leave offline copies offline. The note wants you to feel that every other door is already nailed shut. That feeling is the product. The sentence is not a recovery procedure.
A later stranger who quotes “backups removed” as proof they already studied your case read the same flyer. Anyone can copy that line. Copying it does not mean they can reverse 1.jpg.Enigmawave@zohomail.com.KXRP0XGHXIJA.EnigmaWave.
Do not reset, do not delete the note
The flyer tells you not to reset or shut the machine down. It tells you not to delete the readme. Those lines are a leash. They want the infected session to stay up, the note to stay in view, and you to stay in the room they built. A powered-on machine is easier to keep talking to. A deleted note would remove the script. The script is how they keep you from thinking.
You do not owe a ransom note a running PC. You also do not owe it a cleanup pass. Keep Readme.txt with the locked files. Do not “tidy” every copy. Do not dump the note in Recycle Bin because the name looks ordinary. Do not power-cycle in a panic because a text file told you not to, and do not stay logged in for hours because the same file told you to wait. Evidence and containment are a responder’s job. The flyer’s power-management advice is not.
Two random files is bait, not a sample desk
The note offers two random files decrypted for free. That offer is the hook. Other families use a “test decrypt” so you feel managed. This one names the demo up front so you will attach photos before you have even seen a price. Two files feel small. Two files feel like proof. Two files are still a conversation with the people who locked the folder.
Do not send two files. Do not send one file. Do not send a “junk” screenshot to see if they answer. A decrypt of a file they already control proves nothing about family.mp4.Enigmawave@zohomail.com.KXRP0XGHXIJA.EnigmaWave. Anyone can open one junk file they own. Anyone can send back a JPEG they never locked. The demo is how a locked folder becomes a thread. The thread is how a Bitcoin address finally arrives.
Do not pick the two least important photos as a compromise. “Random” in their sentence is not a kindness. It is a way to make you rummage, attach, and wait. Waiting on a test is still waiting on them. Keep the locked copies. Keep the note. Do not mail the sample desk they invented.
@Enigmawave_support and Enigmawave@zohomail.com are checkout, not support
The printed contacts are Telegram @Enigmawave_support and email Enigmawave@zohomail.com. Those are the aisle. A private chat puts you in a room they own, on an account they can delete, with a thread they can screenshot and reuse. A Zoho inbox looks like a ticket. This inbox is not a ticket. It is how a locked photo becomes a negotiation.
Telegram is the faster door. A handle that includes the word support is built to feel like a help desk. Help desks answer. This handle wants a file, then a pause, then a wallet that was not on the note. Email is the spare aisle for people who will not install an app. Same shop. Same ask. Different waiting room.
Do not message @Enigmawave_support. Do not mail Enigmawave@zohomail.com. Do not create a throwaway Telegram account “just to see.” Do not send a screenshot of Explorer to prove the lock. They already chose the extension. They already chose the note name. They already printed their inbox inside the filename. A photo of Readme.txt sitting next to 1.jpg.Enigmawave@zohomail.com.KXRP0XGHXIJA.EnigmaWave does not make you a verified customer. It makes you a person still following the flyer.
The Bitcoin address is not on the note
Plenty of lockers print a wallet on the page. This one does not. The sample says you will receive a btc address for payment in the reply letter. That missing line is not a kindness. It is a reason to write. If the address is not on the note, you are supposed to feel unfinished. You are supposed to open Telegram so the checkout can continue in a room they control.
This page will not invent a Bitcoin address to finish the sentence. This page will not invent a price in $ or in coin. A missing wallet in Readme.txt is not a puzzle. It is how this sample actually reads. If a later reply, a later comment, or a later “helper” fills that blank, treat the string as a second sales pitch. Do not type it into an exchange “just to see the fee.”
The delay also does later work. A fake helper can invent a wallet and sound like they already talked to the crew. A different fake helper can invent a different wallet and sound like they “corrected” the first one. Both quotes come from a blank the original note left on purpose. Reciting a Bitcoin address is not expertise when the published flyer never printed one.
UniqueID and PublicKey stay blank
The note prints UniqueID and PublicKey as if a ticket and a key were about to appear. In the published sample those lines are empty. This page will not invent a UniqueID. This page will not invent a PublicKey. A missing ID is not a puzzle. It is how that sample actually shipped.
The filename already carries a unique ID in the published example: KXRP0XGHXIJA sits between the inbox and .EnigmaWave. That string is part of the stamp on disk. It is not a reason to fill the blank UniqueID line in the note. It is not a password you redeem in Telegram. Do not copy it into a chat so they can “find your key.” Do not type a hostname, a Windows username, or a random string into the PublicKey line “so they can match you.” Filling a blank they left empty is how a locked folder becomes a conversation. The blanks are theirs. Leave them blank in the report too, and say so.
Copycats love a blank. They will sell you an ID. They will generate a pretty key and ask you to paste it back. They will say the decryptor will not run until UniqueID and PublicKey are filled. The published sample did not hand those out as quotes. Do not finish the flyer for them.
This is not the old Enigma ransomware
The word Enigma already had a life before this locker. Old Enigma ransomware used a note named enigma_info.txt and an ending like .1txt. Enigma stealer is a different tool with a similar brand. EnigmaWave is the strain that stamps .EnigmaWave, drops Readme.txt, and points you at @Enigmawave_support. Mixing those names is how a search turns into the wrong help page, and how a stranger sells you a key for a family you do not have.
If a later message only quotes “Enigma” and never shows Readme.txt, ask which artifact they mean. If they talk about enigma_info.txt, they are in a different folder. If they talk about a stealer log, they are in a different incident. The marks that matter here are the long filename, the .EnigmaWave ending, the note name Readme.txt, Telegram @Enigmawave_support, and email Enigmawave@zohomail.com.
How The Attack Works
The shop is simple once you stop reading it as a rescue. Lock the files. Brand the names with the inbox, a unique ID, and .EnigmaWave. Drop Readme.txt. Shout that the network was penetrated. Claim backups and shadow copies are gone. Ban a reset. Ban deleting the note. Offer two files as a free demo. Point the scared person at @Enigmawave_support and Enigmawave@zohomail.com. Promise a Bitcoin address in the reply. Leave UniqueID blank. Leave PublicKey blank. Then wait for someone else to sell the missing wallet.
1. The lock keeps the old name so you recognize the loss
EnigmaWave encrypts the files it wants as leverage, then appends the long stamp. That is why 1.jpg is still readable as 1.jpg.Enigmawave@zohomail.com.KXRP0XGHXIJA.EnigmaWave. The operators want you to inventory the damage in seconds. They want you to see the photo, the report, the invoice, the tax sheet, and the family video in one glance. A coded filename can confuse you. A readable filename makes you feel the theft. Putting their inbox in the name makes the next click feel obvious.
If only one folder looks wrong, do not assume the rest of the disk is safe. Ransomware walks trees. It hits Documents, Desktop, Pictures, Downloads, and any drive letter it can reach, including a USB stick you forgot was plugged in. Unplug extra disks. Do not plug in a copy “just to check.” Checking is how the extra copy gets the same .EnigmaWave ending.
Double-clicking a renamed file does not bring the photo back. The thumbnail may already look broken. Word may ask for a document that is still sitting in the same folder, only the bytes inside are no longer a document. That broken open is the first proof. The second proof is the extra ending. Together they are enough. You do not need to message @Enigmawave_support to confirm what you are looking at.
2. Readme.txt turns a break-in into a ticket
Once the names are branded, the malware needs a voice. Readme.txt is that voice. It sits in the same folders as the locked files so the first sort puts help next to harm. On many machines a text file sorts near the top. You open it because it looks like the only thing that still speaks English.
The body is long enough to feel like a briefing and short enough to finish before a relative walks into the room. Network penetrated. Backups gone. Do not reset. Do not delete the note. Two files free. Telegram. Email. Wait for a Bitcoin address in the reply. Each beat closes a door. The shout closes “maybe Windows just glitched.” The backups line closes “maybe yesterday’s copy is still here.” The two-file offer closes “maybe I should wait overnight” by handing you a chore. The missing wallet closes “maybe I can decide later” by making the next step a message.
Notice what the note does not give you. It does not give you a company, a refund policy, or a way to prove the other side will ever send a key. It does not give you a printed price. It does not give you a printed wallet. It does not give you a filled UniqueID. It does not give you a filled PublicKey. It gives you a tone that says this is already decided. That tone is the product. Read the file as a sales flyer. Then close it. Keep it on disk.
3. Network penetrated is the opening shout
The first pressure line in the sample is a headline, not a technician. Network penetrated names the disaster in one breath. You are supposed to feel outmatched before you have even reached the contact line. Adult words do that work. Breach language does that work. Together they make Telegram feel like the only adult move left.
The shout also travels. Search ads will recycle it. Commenters will paste it. A later helper will recite it so they sound close to your Documents folder. Reciting a headline is not a decryptor. It is proof they can read. Keep the line as an identifier when you describe the incident. Do not treat it as a diagnosis you have to obey.
4. Backups and shadow copies close the argument
After the shout, the note rests on backups and shadow copies as if a missing copy were a receipt. That pair is meant to end the conversation you have not even started. If the spare is gone, their chat is the aisle. It is still a sales paragraph. It is not a lab report. It is not a reason to mount every disk you own. It is not a reason to skip a trusted decryptor project later if one appears.
You do not need to argue backup theory with a text file. You need to stop treating the file as a technician. Leave 1.jpg.Enigmawave@zohomail.com.KXRP0XGHXIJA.EnigmaWave named as it is. Leave Readme.txt where it is. The backups line printed in that note is part of the pitch. It is not a recovery procedure.
5. Do not reset is how they keep the room open
The note tells you not to reset or shut down. A running session is a warmer sales floor than a machine that is off. The line is written to sound like technical care. It is still a leash. You are not required to leave the infected account logged in because a flyer asked. You are also not required to yank power in a panic because you want to disobey them. Containment is not their script and it is not a debate with Notepad.
The matching line, do not delete the readme, wants the flyer to stay in every folder. Keep it. Do not keep following it. A note you saved is evidence. A note you obey is checkout.
6. Two random files is how a folder becomes a thread
The free decrypt of two random files is the first chore. Chores feel like progress. Progress feels like a ticket. A ticket feels like you should wait for the reply with the Bitcoin address. That is the whole funnel. The original lock did not need your two files. The sale does.
Do not send the two files. Do not send a third “better” sample when they say the first pair was too small. Do not let a later helper rewrite the offer into three files, or one file, or a remote-access session “so they can pick.” The published note said two random files. That is already a request for a conversation. Decline the conversation. Keep the files on disk.
7. @Enigmawave_support is the door they want you to walk through
The recovery step in the sample is chat and mail. Telegram @Enigmawave_support is the fast door. Email Enigmawave@zohomail.com is the spare. That is the whole aisle. It looks like support because support uses those channels. Criminal shops use them too, because a thread is where a missing wallet becomes a number, and a locked photo becomes a sample they asked you to attach.
Do not write that handle. Do not write that inbox. Do not create a throwaway account “just to see.” Do not send a screenshot of Explorer to prove the lock. They already chose the extension. They already printed their inbox in the filename. A photo of Readme.txt sitting next to report.docx.Enigmawave@zohomail.com.KXRP0XGHXIJA.EnigmaWave does not make you a verified customer. It makes you a person still following the flyer.
If someone later says they will “talk to EnigmaWave for you” through that same handle, that is a broker pitch. Brokers need you in the same funnel. You do not owe them a seat. Report the incident through official desks. Let counsel decide if contact is ever required for a specific legal reason. That decision is not yours to make from the Documents folder at midnight.
8. You will receive a btc address in the reply letter is checkout with the price hidden
Plenty of lockers print the figure up front. This one hides the wallet until you write. That is not a discount. A missing address removes the last excuse for staying silent. You cannot “pay later” if you do not have a string. The remaining step is the message. The note has already done the quoting. The reply letter is where they expect to name a wallet this page will not invent.
Do not wait for that reply. Do not ask a friend to wait for it. Do not open Telegram so the letter can arrive. A printed promise of a Bitcoin address is still a ransom ask. A calm handle is still the people who locked family.mp4.Enigmawave@zohomail.com.KXRP0XGHXIJA.EnigmaWave. Cheap or unprinted is how they get people who think of themselves as too careful to pay a crew that already named a number.
Paying a stranger for a private key is not a guarantee. The people who send the note can take the coin and disappear. They can send a string that only makes a decryptor show an error. They can come back later and lock the same machine again. A Telegram thread makes that outcome easier, not harder. You cannot leave a review on a criminal handle.
9. UniqueID and PublicKey stay empty so you will try to finish them
The sample prints UniqueID and PublicKey, then leaves both lines blank. That is a closed loop dressed as a form. They ask you to bring identifiers they never issued on the note. The feeling is that you missed a page. You did not miss a page. The sample is the page.
People try to invent the missing ticket. They paste KXRP0XGHXIJA from the filename into the UniqueID line. They use a Windows product key. They use an email address. They use the last digits of a phone number. Each of those gifts is extra data the crew did not have to steal a second time. Do not build them a UniqueID. Do not build them a PublicKey. Do not send hardware details to prove you are real. Real is already proven by the locked files on disk.
10. This is not old Enigma, and a second shop will still sell a conversation
After a ransomware incident, search results fill up with companies that say they can decrypt EnigmaWave or “all .EnigmaWave files.” Some of those shops are ordinary overpriced consultants. Plenty are a second scam. They will quote Readme.txt so they sound close to the case. They will mention @Enigmawave_support. They will mention two free files. They will mention a Bitcoin address “from the reply.” They will mix this locker with old Enigma and with Enigma stealer so they can sell a key they already had on a different page. They will ask for a sample file, a remote-access session, or a deposit.
A demo that “unlocks one file” is not proof they can unlock the vacation photo. Anyone can open one junk file they control. Anyone can send you a wallet string that makes an exchange window appear. An exchange window is not Photos opening 1.jpg again. If a later message skips the original handle and asks for coin over ordinary mail, that is still the same market, or a copycat standing in the same doorway. Do not answer. Do not help them set a wallet the public copy left unprinted on purpose.
A real public decryptor, when one exists, shows up on an official project page that already existed before your incident. It does not need a Telegram send. It does not need Enigmawave@zohomail.com. If the pitch is “we can decrypt, pay us first,” you are still in the market the ransomware created. There is no public free decryptor known for this strain. Until a trusted project publishes one, treat any site that says “we already have the EnigmaWave key” as a second sales pitch.
If this is a company machine, tell counsel and your incident lead. If this is a home PC, tell the people whose files lived on it. Change passwords from a clean device. Watch bank and email alerts. Opening @Enigmawave_support again is not useful work. It is the checkout, even when the wallet in the note is missing on purpose.
What To Do If Your Files End in .EnigmaWave
Do not message @Enigmawave_support. Do not mail Enigmawave@zohomail.com. Do not send two “test” files. Do not send one file. Do not invent a Bitcoin address to finish Readme.txt. Do not invent a UniqueID or a PublicKey. Do not wait for a reply letter with a wallet. Do not pay. If you already sent a message before you found this page, stop there. Do not pay a deposit to “hold the original price” for anyone who quotes the note.

After downloading, double-click the iExplore.exe icon to kill malicious processes. In most cases, downloaded files are saved to the Downloads folder. The program may take some time to search for and end various malware programs.

When the download finishes, open your Downloads folder and double-click the MBSetup file. If Windows shows a User Account Control pop-up, click “Yes” to allow the installation.

Do not pay. Do not message that handle. Do not mail that inbox. Do not ask a friend to write them “just to see.” A promised Bitcoin address is still a ransom. A calm Telegram name is still the people who locked the files. If a later message quotes Readme.txt and offers “the real wallet,” that is still the same shop. If a later message skips the original handle and asks for coin over a different address, that is still the same shop, or a copycat standing in the same doorway.
If someone claims they can already decrypt EnigmaWave files for a fee because they can recite two free files and @Enigmawave_support, they are selling a report, not a key. If they mention Enigmawave@zohomail.com as proof they “already called the crew,” they read the same note you did. If they fill in a UniqueID or a PublicKey the published sample left blank, they are inventing a ticket. If they mix this folder with enigma_info.txt or with Enigma stealer, they have the wrong family. Do not answer. Do not complete their checkout. Do not help them fix the flyer.

UniqueID and PublicKey are blank. There is no printed wallet. There is no printed ransom figure. This is not old Enigma ransomware and not Enigma stealer. There is no public free decryptor known for this strain.
Do not pay. Do not message that handle. Do not mail that inbox. Do not send two test files. Do not invent a wallet, a UniqueID, or a PublicKey. Do not rename the pile in bulk. If you take one sentence with you, take this. A folder of names ending in .EnigmaWave, plus Readme.txt with @Enigmawave_support, a two-file offer, and a Bitcoin address promised later, is ransomware on the first sighting. Treat it that way before anyone offers to fill the blanks.

Stop and verify before you click, log in, download, or pay.
Most scams win by creating urgency. Verify using a trusted method: type the website address yourself, use the official app, or call a known number (not the one in the message).
If you already clicked: close the page, do not enter passwords, and run a malware scan.
Keep your operating system, browser, and apps updated.
Updates patch security holes used by malware and malicious ads. Turn on automatic updates where possible.
If you saw a scary “update now” pop-up: close it and update only through your device settings or the official app store.
Use layered protection: antivirus plus an ad blocker.
Antivirus helps block malware. An ad blocker reduces scam redirects, phishing pages, and malvertising.
If your browser is acting weird: remove unknown extensions, reset the browser, then run a full scan.
Install apps, software, and extensions only from official sources.
