You open Documents the way you did yesterday. The first photo should still be 1.jpg. The second image should still be 2.png. The vacation shot should still be vacation.jpg. The invoice should still be invoice-2026.pdf. The tax sheet should still be taxes.xlsx. Instead every familiar name has a second ending tacked on. 1.jpg is now 1.jpg.net6. 2.png is now 2.png.net6.
Then you notice a page you did not create. It sits in the same folder, as if it has always belonged there. It is called Recovery_Instructions.html. Recovery sounds like a restore. Instructions sounds like a how-to. An .html ending wants a browser tab, the kind Windows already trusts enough to open without asking twice.
That is the trap, not a glitch.
This page is for the hour those names appear. It is not a miracle key. It is a map of the trap, so the note does not become your incident plan.

Overview
Net ransomware is a MedusaLocker.C locker. It locks the files first. Then it keeps the old name and the old type, and hangs .net6 on the end. The digit after net may vary. Then it drops Recovery_Instructions.html and talks like a recovery desk. The locker mechanism is hybrid RSA+AES. AES locks the file bytes. RSA wraps the file key so the people who sent the note can claim they alone can unwrap it. The note is a storefront, not a lab report.
If you are staring at a pile of names like 1.jpg.net6 and that HTML note, you are in a ransom incident, not a broken disk and not a Windows pop-up. The folder is the evidence. The note is a checkout. Stay with the folder, not with the script.
The first tell is the rename. In the sample used for this page, 1.jpg becomes 1.jpg.net6. 2.png becomes 2.png.net6. An invoice would look like invoice-2026.pdf.net6. A tax sheet would look like taxes.xlsx.net6. A video would look like family.mp4.net6. You can still read what the file used to be. You cannot open it. Windows may call the type a NET6 File and offer a useless “choose an app” box. An app cannot talk locked bytes back into a JPEG.

It then walks you through downloading Tor Browser and starting a chat. If you cannot use the link, it prints two inboxes: support@gneecher.com and support@3dsservice.com. MAKE CONTACT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. YOUR DECRYPTION KEY IS ONLY STORED TEMPORARLY. That is the note’s own spelling again. IF YOU DON’T CONTACT US WITHIN 72 HOURS, PRICE WILL BE HIGHER. There is no printed wallet. There is no printed Session handle. There is no extra onion. There is no victim $ figure. This page will not invent those missing pieces so the flyer looks complete.
That is the whole pitch. A locked folder of .net6 names. A Recovery_Instructions.html file that talks like a recovery brief. RSA+AES as the locker costume. A leak-or-sell threat. A 2-3 file tease. One printed Tor chat. Two attacker-claimed inboxes. A 72-hour price hike with no $ amount. A blank Personal ID. There is no public free decryptor known for this strain. The .net6 name is the first warning

Recovery_Instructions.html is a sales floor, not a help page
The ransom note is an HTML file with a name that sounds like documentation. Recovery_Instructions.html wants the first click after the panic. Plenty of real software drops a local HTML help page. This one uses that habit against you. It is meant to be the first English you can still read when the photos will not open.
Double-clicking it opens a browser. That is why a panicked first click feels like opening a restore guide. It is not a restore guide. It is the demand, written so it looks official enough to follow. The filename is built to look like paperwork. Recovery. Instructions. An .html ending Windows already knows how to open. Paperwork in a browser tab is easier to obey than a threat in Notepad.
Keep the file on disk. Then close it. Do not treat it as a set of steps you should follow. Do not tidy the filename. Do not shorten it to “the recovery page” when you write the incident down. Copy Recovery_Instructions.html the way you would copy a serial off a stolen laptop. That string is how a responder matches this locker. ALL YOUR IMPORTANT FILES HAVE BEEN ENCRYPTED piles on the same shout.
The shout is also a brand. Later search ads will quote it. Later “helpers” will paste YOUR COMPANY NETWORK HAS BEEN PENETRATED so they sound close to your folder. Anyone can copy a headline. Copying that banner does not mean they can reverse .net6. It means they read the same note you did, or they read a screenshot of it.
If the shout is sitting in more than one folder, that is normal for this family. Lockers drop the same page in many places so you cannot miss it. Finding five copies is not five incidents. It is one incident with a loud flyer. Keep one clean copy as evidence. You do not need to open every copy. You do not need to compare them in mail to support@gneecher.com.
RSA+AES is the locker mechanism, not a key in your hand

RSA+AES is the locker mechanism this family uses as a costume and as a real hybrid lock. AES is the file lock. RSA is how they wrap the file key and then talk as if only their desk can unwrap it. Naming two ciphers does not put a key on your desk.
What the note is actually selling is helplessness. If the lock is “impossible” without their key, then their chat is the only aisle. If the files are “safe,” then paying feels like a small correction instead of a crime. Naming RSA+AES does not prove the implementation. It does not prove they still have a key. It does not prove they will send one if you write those inboxes or open that onion.
People hear AES and go looking for a matching “AES decryptor” in ads. That search is the next trap. A tool that promises to reverse RSA+AES because a ransom note printed the letters is selling the same fear in a different window. Leave the locked files alone. Do not feed 1.jpg.net6 to a mystery app that asked for admin rights because an HTML file named two ciphers.
Third-party restore will destroy is a scare line
The note warns that any attempt to restore files with third-party software will permanently destroy them. It uses PERMENANTLY, the flyer’s own spelling. You should not bulk-rename .net6 names, and you should not run a random “decryptor” from an ad. The rest of the line is a lock on the aisle. It says that data sits on a private server that will be destroyed after payment. It says that if you do not pay they will release it to the public or to a re-seller. That is double extortion copy. Encryption is the first product. Shame is the second. You are supposed to pay twice in your head: once for the files, once for the silence. Neither purchase is a contract.
Do not pay this leak note. A threat to publish is not proof they have the family photos, the invoice archive, or a client list. Criminals copy leak language because it works on companies and on homes. Answering it still funds the locker. It still does not produce a warranty that a copy was deleted. You cannot audit a “private server” from a Tor chat they told you to start.

The Tor chat is checkout, not a help desk

Do not add a second onion because a comment said a “complete” note needs two. This page reprints the path that is on the flyer. It will not invent an extra one.
The flyer then gives you a how-to. Download Tor Browser. Install it. Open the path. Start a chat. Follow further instructions. That list is checkout dressed as technical support. Tor Browser is a real program. The people who locked 1.jpg.net6 are not the Tor Project. They are not a privacy desk assigned to your case. They want you inside a room they own, on a network they chose, with a thread they can abandon.
Do not install Tor because Recovery_Instructions.html said to. Do not “just open the chat to see the price.” Opening the chat is the product. A price that appears only after you arrive is still a ransom, even when the HTML file never printed a $ figure. If a later helper pastes a different onion and calls it Net support, that is a new ask. Treat it as a new ask. Do not type it anywhere except an incident record.

It is how a locked photo becomes a negotiation.
Do not write either address. Do not open a fresh mail account because the note said the Tor link might fail. Do not send a test file to prove you are a real victim. Do not paste a folder listing into a new message. Do not argue about the 72-hour hike as if a discount were available. Those addresses belong to the people who locked the files. Writing them is the product.
The handles are branding, the same way .net6 is branding. Anyone can stand up a lookalike inbox after a wave of locked folders. Writing the first message does not start a warranty. It starts a conversation you cannot enforce. A later helper who says they “already emailed support@gneecher” has not proven a relationship. They read the same flyer.
support@3dsservice.com is attacker-claimed only
support@3dsservice.com looks like a 3-D service desk. That is the costume. Real 3-D printing shops, 3-D scanning labs, and 3-D design firms exist, and some of them use ordinary service-style domains. This inbox is attacker-claimed only. It is not a ticket queue at a modeling studio. It is not a warranty desk for a printer. It is not a reason to call a real 3-D company and ask them to unlock 2.png.net6.
Do not smear a real 3-D firm into this story. Do not hunt for an office, a phone tree, or a “3D service” support page and then forward them the ransom note. Do not leave a one-star review on a legitimate shop because an HTML file borrowed a similar look. The mechanism is impersonation-shaped mail, not a vendor you can call.
A stranger who offers to “talk to 3D Service for you” is still in the same funnel. Keep the address as an identifier in the incident record. Then leave it unused. support@gneecher.com is the same rule with a different costume. Neither one is Microsoft. Neither one is a 3-D shop. Both are checkout.
72 hours is a price hike, not a clock you must meet
The note says that if you do not contact them within 72 hours, the price will be higher. It also says the decryption key is only stored TEMPORARLY, the flyer’s own spelling. That pair is a fuse, not a court date. There is no printed dollar amount on the sample used for this page, and this page will not invent a victim $ figure. A clock without a price is still a checkout trick. You are supposed to feel that waiting is already a mistake. You are supposed to write tonight so the “original” mystery figure does not jump.
Do not treat 72 hours as a real clock you must meet. Do not set a phone alarm. Do not stay up to “beat” a deadline printed by the people who locked the files. The fuse belongs to them. It does not belong to your incident plan. Silence is not rude here. Silence is how you stay out of their queue. A relative, an insurer, or an incident lead can still talk on a phone. The people who locked the files do not get a seat in that call.
A later message that says “your 72 hours are almost up” is still the same shop, or a copycat standing in the same doorway. Anyone can count to three days. Counting does not prove they have a key. Paying does not ensure the files come back, does not ensure the systems are clean, and does not ensure anyone on the other side keeps a promise.
This is MedusaLocker.C Net, not Bear, not Betelgeuse, not an older *net* locker
The name is a problem because the web is already full of other Nets. This strain is MedusaLocker.C Net. It is the locker that appends .net6 (the digit may vary), drops Recovery_Instructions.html, prints that Tor chat, and points you at support@gneecher.com and support@3dsservice.com. It is not Microsoft .NET. It is not a teddy-bear adware shop. It is not Bear, and it is not Betelgeuse.
Bear and Betelgeuse can share the same locker family and still be a different shop. Those strains use different inboxes. They are not support@gneecher.com. They are not support@3dsservice.com. They are not this Tor path. If a writeup talks about salamati.vip, amniyat.xyz, or owndecrypt@, you are reading a different door. Do not mix the two. A helper who starts from a Bear note and then asks you to mail support@gneecher.com is standing in the wrong doorway on purpose.
Older posts about Skynet, DNET, Killnet, or BLACKNET are also a different file. A name that contains net is not a match. Those pages can wait. The folder in front of you cannot. Keep the family name as an identifier, not as a shopping label. MedusaLocker.C is how responders group this locker. It is not a coupon. It is not a reason to buy a “Medusa decryptor” from the first ad. There is no public free decryptor known for this strain. Until a trusted project publishes one, treat any site that says “we already have the Net key” as a second sales pitch.
How The Attack Works
The shop is simple once you stop reading it as a rescue. Lock the files with a hybrid RSA+AES mechanism. Brand the names with .net6. Drop an HTML note that shouts PENETRATED, claims the files are safe, only modified, and warns that third-party restore will destroy them. Threaten a leak or a re-sale. Offer 2-3 free decrypts. Point the scared person at a Tor chat. Print support@gneecher.com and support@3dsservice.com as the fallback. Light a 72-hour fuse. Leave Personal ID blank. Leave the $ line blank. Then wait for someone else to sell a Microsoft story or a 3-D-shop story on top.
1. The lock keeps the old name so you recognize the loss
Net encrypts the files it wants as leverage, then appends .net6. That is why 1.jpg is still readable as 1.jpg.net6, and why 2.png is still readable as 2.png.net6. The operators want you to inventory the damage in seconds. They want you to see the photo, the invoice, the tax sheet, and the family video in one glance. A coded filename can confuse you. A readable filename makes you feel the theft.
If only one folder looks wrong, do not assume the rest of the disk is safe. Ransomware walks trees. It hits Documents, Desktop, Pictures, Downloads, and any drive letter it can reach. Double-clicking a renamed file does not bring the photo back. The thumbnail may already look broken. A PDF reader may ask for a document that is still sitting in the same folder, only the bytes inside are no longer a document. That broken open is the first proof. Once the names are branded, the malware needs a voice. Recovery_Instructions.html is that voice. It sits in the same folders as the locked files so the first sort puts help next to harm. 3. RSA+AES closes the argument
After the shout, the note rests on RSA+AES as if famous ciphers were a receipt. YOUR FILES ARE SAFE! JUST MODIFIED ONLY is meant to end the conversation you have not even started. Cipher plus private control sounds like math you cannot beat at the kitchen table. Safe plus modified sounds like a reversible edit. It is still a sales paragraph. It is also the locker mechanism. Hybrid RSA+AES is how this family locks the bytes and then talks as if their desk is the only remaining key cabinet. Naming the mechanism is not a recovery procedure.
You do not need to argue cryptography with an HTML file. You need to stop treating the file as a technician. Leave 1.jpg.net6 named as it is. Leave Recovery_Instructions.html where it is. The algorithm printed in that note is part of the pitch. It is not a reason to skip copies that were never mounted. It is not a reason to skip a trusted decryptor project later if one appears.
4. The leak line sells silence
Claiming they gathered confidential data, then threatening to release it to the public or a re-seller, is how they sell silence on top of decryption. Offering to unlock 2-3 non-important files for free is how they make the silence feel testable. Together those lines turn a locked folder into a relationship. Relationships are how payments happen. Do not attach “unimportant” files. Do not pick the smallest PDF as a demo. Do not pay to stop a leak you cannot verify. If this is a company machine, tell counsel and your incident lead. 5. The Tor path is the door they want you to walk through

Criminal shops use chat too, because a thread is where a mystery price becomes a negotiation and a locked photo becomes a sample they asked you to attach.
Do not open that chat. Do not install Tor “just to see.” Do not send a screenshot of Explorer to prove the lock. They already chose the extension. They already chose the note name. A photo of Recovery_Instructions.html sitting next to 1.jpg.net6 does not make you a verified customer. It makes you a person still following the flyer. If someone later says they will “talk to Net for you” through that same onion, that is a broker pitch. Brokers need you in the same funnel. You do not owe them a seat.
6. Two inboxes are the fallback door

Plenty of lockers hide the fuse until you write. This one prints 72 hours up front and says the price will be higher after that. That is not kindness. A printed fuse removes the last excuse for delay. You do not have to “ask how long you have.” You already know the number they want you to fear. The remaining step, in their script, is the Tor chat or the mail. The note has already done the quoting, even without a dollar figure.
Do not convert 72 hours in your head into a reason to pay tonight. The number is theirs. The files are already locked. Another afternoon of panic will not change the bytes in vacation.jpg.net6. Do not “test” a smaller payment to see if they answer. A test payment is still a payment. It still tells them this victim pays. This page will not invent the $ amount they want. 8. Personal ID is blank. Do not invent the rest
The sample leaves YOUR PERSONAL ID blank. That empty line is not a puzzle you should finish. This page will not invent a victim ID. It will not invent a Session handle. It will not invent a wallet. It will not invent a second onion. It will not invent a victim $ figure. A missing string in the copy you are reading is not a challenge. It is a blank. If your own file on disk still shows an empty field there, treat the blank as evidence. Do not fill it because a comment said a “complete” note needs an ID.
Empty fields also give copycats a job. They will sell the missing ID. They will paste a Session handle and call it Net support. They will ask you to mail support@gneecher.com first, then paste what they send. That is still the same shop, or a second shop standing in the same doorway. The published flyer left that line blank. Do not finish it for them.

Do not help them invent a wallet the public copy never printed.
A real public decryptor, when one exists, shows up on an official project page that already existed before your incident. It does not need a Tor signup. It does not need support@3dsservice.com. If the pitch is “we can decrypt, pay us first,” you are still in the market the ransomware created. There is no public free decryptor known for this strain. Until a trusted project publishes one, treat any site that says “we already have the Net key” as a second sales pitch.
10. Payment and mailing those inboxes close nothing
Paying a stranger for a private key is not a guarantee. The people who send the note can take the money and disappear. They can send a string that only makes a decryptor show an error. They can come back later and lock the same machine again. They can still leak, or still claim they will, after they are paid. A mail thread makes that outcome easier, not harder. You cannot leave a review on a criminal inbox.

STEP 1: Use Rkill to terminate suspicious programs.
In this first step, we will download and run Rkill to terminate suspicious programs that may be running on your computer.
RKill is a program that was developed at BleepingComputer.com that attempts to terminate known malware processes so that your normal security software can then run and clean your computer of infections. When RKill runs it will kill malware processes and then removes incorrect executable associations and fixes policies that stop us from using certain tools.

Keep every .net6 name exactly as it is. Do not bulk-rename 1.jpg.net6 back to 1.jpg, or 2.png.net6 back to 2.png, or invoice-2026.pdf.net6 back to a normal PDF, or taxes.xlsx.net6 back to a spreadsheet, or family.mp4.net6 back to a video. Stripping the extra ending is not a repair. It can make a later trusted tool worse, not better. The original name is already sitting in front of .net6. You do not need to edit it to know what you lost. The digit after net may vary. Leave whatever digit you actually have. Do not “correct” it to 6 because a writeup used that sample.
Keep Recovery_Instructions.html with the locked files, and keep at least one .net6 sample next to it. Do not “clean up” every copy of the note. Do not fill Personal ID so the flyer looks complete. The blank, or the extra text on your disk, is part of how you prove this was this strain and not a different locker that only sounds similar. They are not instructions you should carry out.

Here are 10 practical safety rules to help you avoid malware, online shopping scams, crypto scams, and other online fraud. Each tip includes a quick “if you already got hit” action.
Stop and verify before you click, log in, download, or pay.
Most scams win by creating urgency. Verify using a trusted method: type the website address yourself, use the official app, or call a known number (not the one in the message).
If you already clicked: close the page, do not enter passwords, and run a malware scan.
Keep your operating system, browser, and apps updated.
Updates patch security holes used by malware and malicious ads. Turn on automatic updates where possible.
If you saw a scary “update now” pop-up: close it and update only through your device settings or the official app store.
Use layered protection: antivirus plus an ad blocker.
