Iminent Toolbar is a program that offers a web search engine (search.iminent.com) and toolbar which are being promoted via other free programs, and once installed on your computer, they will hijack your browser homepage and replace your default search engine.Futhermore, this program will display ads and sponsored links in your search results, and may colect search terms from your search queries.
Iminent Toolbar got on your computer after you have installed another free software or add-on that had bundled into their installer this browser hijacker. For example, when you install vShare, you’ll also install the Iminent Toolbar, set your browser homepage to http://search.iminent.com/SearchTheWeb/v4/1033/homepage/Default.aspx and change your default search engine to http://search.iminent.com.However, when you uninstall vShare from your computer, your web browser’s default settings will not be restored. This means that you’ll have to remove Iminent Toolbar from your favorite web browser manually.
You should always pay attention when installing software because often, a software installer includes optional installs, such as this browser hijacker. Be very careful what you agree to install. Always opt for the custom installation and deselect anything that is not familiar, especially optional software that you never wanted to download and install in the first place. It goes without saying that you should not install software that you don’t trust.

Hi , I receive the following message when I Try to unistall (….. using the correct process via Control Panel …. ) “OUPS, YOU’RE NO LONGER CONNECTED TO INTERNET ” Please reconnect to de internet then restart our setup. It it very stupid message because at the botton there is the link: URL to IMINENT … and , I AM ABLE TO CONNET , AS WELL AS , THE INTERNET LINK !!! just after 1”
Great page – thanks for all the tips!!!! Worked like a boss!
I completely removed it from Chrome and everything was OK.
Unfortunately every month or so it comes back again am I missing something ?
I followed all and it seemed to work. This just happened to me after a c/net download and I am very careful to deselect boxes that would download other items. I have written to c/net advising them. What bothers me most is that after all the work I did last night: uninstall extensions on Chrome and IE, reestablishment of home pages, doing a complete Malwarebytes scan, the files were STILL on my hard drive. I just don’t know what to think of this. I thought malwarebytes was reliable. McAfee, of course, got none of it probably because it came with the c/net download as a result of my actions.
Stelian, I’ve been trying to remove Iminent for months without success. I was still getting the Monday morning browser change to Iminent.
Looks like this was a success. So appreciate your support on this. It was driving me up the wall.
Steve
Thanks very much, works a treat. Much appreciated.
Thanks for your help. You are a “Master Mind”.
Hello Gareth,
Can you download and install avast! Browser Cleanup tool. Then go to the Google Chrome tab, and disable any unwanted or unknown extensions, then click on Reset to default settings button.
Hi, tried all of the above programs after uninstalling Iminent, each of them found and removed some fresh malware, but I’m still getting unwanted ads on web pages I visit. Not sure what else I can do!
Thanks a lot, really helpful
Great advice! Thank you very much! Tim
Thank you from Rome, Italy!!
