Windows XP

Message displayed on desktop saying my files have been encrypted by CTB-Blocker. Google Chrome is running in my Processes (Programs) and it's no longer installed on my system. I delete the entry and it comes right back.

I have run SpyHunter and RegHunter scans and their fixes(they were previously installed). I am currently booted into safe mode with 0 startup programs and my system is running at 100% due to all of the processes. I tried running a virus scan with AVG - it will not let it open. Will not let me install a new copy.

Please help!

  • Instructions that I give are for your system only!
  • Please do not run any tools until requested ! The reason for this is so I know what is going on with the machine at any time. Some programs can interfere with others and hamper the recovery process.

Running it on another one may cause damage and render the system unstable.

Download attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop:

Both files, FRST and fixlist.txt have to be in the same location or the fix will not work!

  • Right-click on
    FRST.gif
    icon and select
    RunAsAdmin.jpg
Run as Administrator to start the tool.
(XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File).
  • Press the Fix button just once and wait.
  • If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
  • When finished FRST will generate a log on the Desktop, called Fixlog.txt.

Please attach it to your reply.

Hello Argus. I have run fixlist.txt and also rerun FRST.txt.

I made a mistake when I ran FRST after fixlist and forgot to check addition. I tried rerunning FRST and now it will not complete the scan. Also, when I try to upload FRST.txt I get a message saying there was an error uploading your file (I assume because the scan did not complete the 2nd time)

Things seem to be running a little better - I don't see Google Chrome trying to run in the processes any longer. Explorer seems to be using an extreme amount of memory (600,000k)? Also, when I restarted as requested I received the blue screen of death (which I had occasionally received before) just stating that windows shut down to prevent further damage. Please let me know at what point you would like me to boot without safe mode as it is difficult to see all issues in safe mode. I am unsure if my files are still encrypted or not as well.

Thank you for your services so far! I can see improvements!
