TwinHeadedEagle, My computer has been running for fourteen hours now without one appearance of a dllhost *32 process. And not one popup from Malwarebytes either. I had kept it off the network, except for downloading the tools, until now, but being off the network didn't change the behavior of this infection. Running the ComboFix scan seems to have done the trick in stopping it. The ComboFIx log showed: CLSID={AB8902B4-09CA-4bb6-B78D-A8F59079A8D5} - infected with Poweliks and removed. You should verify if current CLSID data is correct: . HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{AB8902B4-09CA-4bb6-B78D-A8F59079A8D5} (Default) REG_SZ Thumbnail Cache Class Factory for Out of Proc Server AppID REG_SZ {AB8902B4-09CA-4bb6-B78D-A8F59079A8D5} . HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{AB8902B4-09CA-4bb6-B78D-A8F59079A8D5}\InprocServer32 (Default) REG_SZ c:\windows\system32\thumbcache.dll ThreadingModel REG_SZ Apartment So it seems that is what fixed it. However, it also states, "You should verify if current CLSID data is correct" Is there something I still need to do for this verification? Thank you so much for getting to the point where it looks like we have this licked!
