Hello. So Feb. 28, 2015 my uncle downloaded a program that enabled him to obtain data when he went diving. When he handed me back my laptop I had a ton of weird desktop icons such as: Ebay, CraigsList, ESPN, Facebook, and many more. I asked him if he needed this "crap," and afterwards I deleted them from my desktop, but kept the program he needed: Analyst Pro. The following day, I noticed my default search browser (Chrome) changed to safesearch. I did a minor search on how to fix this problem, but nothing worked. When I try to change search engines, it tells me "this is enforced by the administrator," even though I am the admin, and only user on this laptop. So now today, March 21, 2015, I've gotten back on my laptop with the same results. I tried a more in-depth approach and deleted the safesearch from the registry for Internet Explorer, but couldn't figure out how to do it with Firefox or Chrome. I ran a malware scan and virus scan, but both scans popped up with nothing. I also, today, deleted Analyst Pro from my desktop: to be more specific, I've uninstalled everything that was installed on Feb. 28, 2015: the day I had my initial problems. Still though, same results. I googled this problem and was led here. Hopefully you can help me, because it seems others here have had this problem and they've had it solved. I am running Windows 8. --Devon.
