Russian internet providers have to block access to the local version of Wikipedia because the site hosts an article about hash. The media authority Roskomnadzor has decided the entire Russian Wikipedia has to be blocked until the page is removed.
Wikimedia, the organisation behind Wikipedia, doesn’t want to remove the page because it doesn’t want to censor the site. Because internet providers are not able to block access to individual pages, they have to block access to the entire Russian version of Wikipedia.
