Rabby Airdrop Scam Exposed: Fake Rewards and Dangerous Wallet Approvals

By Lapain Epuran10 min read

A Rabby-branded page offers an airdrop, with two obvious choices: connect a wallet or claim the reward. The design keeps the next action simple.

Before letting a reward page interact with your assets, look beyond the logo. What you authorize matters much more than how familiar the invitation feels.

Overview

The promotion borrows the wallet’s identity

The Rabby airdrop scam uses the wallet’s name to make a separate reward page look trustworthy. The investigated address is rabbysend[.]site, not rabby.io.

An original capture of that address shows the advertised airdrop and two action buttons. It invites visitors to connect a wallet to claim.

Advertisements

The legitimate wallet’s website is rabby.io. The existence of that real product does not authenticate every page using its name.

A reward claim can hide a request for authority

The page has been reported as a cryptocurrency-drainer lure. We did not connect a funded wallet, submit a signature, or execute its postconnection requests.

That distinction matters. Merely displaying a wallet address is different from authorizing a transfer, granting a spending allowance, or exposing the keys controlling the account.

The safe decision is not to continue through this promotion. There is no reason to discover the request’s exact consequences using assets you cannot afford to lose.

The response depends on what you actually approved

Someone who only viewed the page needs a different response from someone who signed a transaction. An exposed recovery phrase creates a more serious problem again.

Start with the record in your wallet and the relevant blockchain explorer. Don’t rely on the promotional page to explain what happened.

  • Viewing the offer is not proof that funds moved.
  • Connecting a site does not automatically grant every spending permission.
  • Approvals or signatures may authorize actions beyond a simple connection.
  • A revealed recovery phrase compromises the wallet itself, not just one website connection.

A Wallet Selector Isn’t an Endorsement

A dialog containing well-known wallet names can feel reassuring. It looks like infrastructure familiar from legitimate applications, which may make the surrounding offer seem routine.

But a site’s ability to request a connection does not mean those wallet providers approve the promotion. The user still has to judge the requested operation.

The interface can also make a wrong address feel like an official campaign subsite. A recognizable logo and the word claim don’t establish an affiliation.

Think of the wallet as the tool asking for your authorization. Its appearance does not turn the website requesting that authorization into a trusted party.

If a warning appears, read it. Don’t dismiss it because the promotional page says errors are normal or because other people appear to have received tokens.

Comment threads, screenshots of balances, and testimonials are not a substitute for the underlying transaction. They don’t show what your wallet is being asked to do.

How the Rabby Airdrop Scam Works

Step 1: A familiar brand lowers the threshold for visiting

The lure starts with recognition. A person who uses a wallet or follows cryptocurrency news may already associate the name with an established product.

A promotion can reach a reader through social posts, messages, advertisements, or search results. Those are possible entry routes, not a verified distribution history for every visitor.

Don’t treat a post’s popularity as authentication. A genuine account may be impersonated or compromised, and a forwarded link may have passed through people who never checked it.

Open the project’s established channels independently. An announcement should lead back to a consistently verified source, not a chain of accounts all repeating one unfamiliar address.

Advertisements

Step 2: The landing page makes connection look like the natural next step

The page keeps attention on obtaining a reward. Its simple presentation leaves little context between the attractive offer and the button requesting wallet interaction.

Advertisements

That simplicity should not replace due diligence. A legitimate-looking landing page can be created without controlling the actual project or having any tokens to distribute.

Read the hostname from beginning to end. A project name inside it is not equivalent to the official domain, and a different ending creates a different address.

Don’t use a small wallet balance as a way to authenticate the site. A test with little money says nothing about permissions requested later or a different account.

Step 3: The wallet presents a request that deserves its own decision

A connection request may expose your public address and allow the website to propose subsequent actions. It does not, by itself, explain or approve those actions.

Advertisements

A later prompt might concern a transaction, token spending, account delegation, or a signed message. These are different forms of authorization and require different scrutiny.

Read what leaves the account, which contract receives authority, and which network is involved. If the request can’t be understood, rejecting it is the safer choice.

Do not assume a signature without an obvious fee is harmless. Some signed authorizations can be used later, even when the initial prompt doesn’t look like a payment.

Advertisements

No exact malicious contract or payload is asserted here. The important boundary is refusing unexplained authority rather than treating a promotional label as the transaction’s meaning.

Step 4: An unsafe authorization can turn into asset loss

A transfer can move assets directly. A spending approval can allow a contract to move an approved token within its allowance. Neither is a normal website login.

Advertisements

Different assets and networks can involve different permission types. Don’t assume one visible approval explains every later movement, especially if several prompts were accepted.

A wallet can keep functioning after a loss. Being able to open it and see an address doesn’t establish that an unsafe permission has disappeared.

Likewise, a reward counter on a webpage isn’t evidence of withdrawable assets. Check actual holdings and transactions independently, not the balance the promotion chooses to display.

Step 5: Recovery pressure can bring another dangerous request

After a suspected loss, urgency can make a supposed support offer feel welcome. Someone may propose a validation payment, recovery connection, or private wallet inspection.

Do not disclose keys or a recovery phrase to anyone offering help. Genuine support can discuss a public transaction without taking control of the wallet.

A demand to deposit more funds before a refund is released is another reason to stop. A new payment doesn’t reverse an earlier blockchain transfer.

Preserve transaction details and seek assistance through independently verified channels. Avoid turning the effort to understand one authorization into another unexamined approval.

Advertisements

Three Questions That Determine the Damage

Did you connect, or did you sign?

Write down the prompts you remember, then compare them with wallet history. A website connection and a confirmed onchain operation are not interchangeable events.

If you only connected and rejected further requests, disconnect the site and review the account. Don’t describe the wallet as drained without a matching asset movement.

If a signed message isn’t visible as a normal transaction, tell support what it asked you to sign. An empty transaction list doesn’t explain every possible signature.

Is there a continuing permission?

Inspect recent allowances and other authorizations using the wallet’s established controls or a verified tool. An approval on one network isn’t automatically revoked on another.

Advertisements

Uniswap’s approval guidance points users toward approval checkers and notes that revoking an approval involves a network cost.

Do not grant a larger permission to repair a smaller one. Read the revocation request and verify the contract, asset, chain, and intended change.

Were the recovery words exposed?

A recovery phrase is different from a public address. Someone with those words may recreate control of the wallet without needing the deceptive site to remain connected.

In that situation, removing a website connection is inadequate. Plan a move to a freshly generated wallet using a trusted environment and appropriate expert help if needed.

Don’t keep adding funds to an address where incoming assets immediately disappear. An automated theft pattern needs careful handling, not repeated attempts to fund another transaction.

What to Do If You Used the Airdrop Page

  1. Stop interacting with the promotion. Reject pending requests and close the page. Don’t reconnect to see whether the claim can still be completed.

If you have only viewed the page, no wallet action is needed solely because its logo appeared. Focus on any actual connection, signature, download, or permission.

  2. Record the affected wallet address and chain. Save relevant transaction hashes, timestamps, contract addresses, and screenshots of prompts you already have.

These public records can help explain what happened. Keep recovery words, private keys, and exchange passwords out of screenshots and support messages.

  3. Disconnect the site and inspect authorizations separately. Disconnection stops the ordinary website relationship, but it should not be mistaken for canceling every permission on the blockchain.

Review the networks used during the incident. Remove unsafe allowances or other authorizations through verified controls, with attention to any pending transactions.

  4. Choose the right response for key exposure. If recovery words or a private key were entered into the site, stop treating that wallet as a private vault.

Create a new wallet with a new recovery phrase in a trusted environment. Don’t import the compromised phrase and assume the resulting address is new.

  5. Check device exposure if an installer or extension was involved. A wallet approval problem doesn’t automatically mean malware is installed. Investigate software you actually downloaded or ran.

Malwarebytes may help examine a personal computer after that exposure. It cannot revoke blockchain permissions or return transferred tokens.

AdGuard can reduce some malicious-ad exposure while browsing. It does not approve airdrops, interpret every signature, or guarantee a safe cryptocurrency transaction.

  6. Contact legitimate support without using unsolicited replies. Reach the wallet provider through its independently opened official website or established help center.

Explain whether you connected, signed, shared keys, or lost assets. Those details are more useful than a general statement that the wallet was hacked.

  7. Report losses and preserve the trail. Give authorities the destination addresses and transaction identifiers. Notify an exchange if its account or deposit address appears relevant.

A finalized transaction has no ordinary card-style chargeback. That doesn’t make reporting pointless, but it makes guaranteed private recovery offers particularly dangerous.

Stay Protected: Block Ads and Malicious Sites

Now that your device is clean, keep it that way. Most infections start with a malicious ad or a fake download button — so blocking them at the source is your best defense.

We recommend AdGuard, which blocks malicious ads, phishing pages, and dangerous redirects before they can reach you.

What a Revocation Can and Cannot Fix

Revocation changes a permission. It doesn’t turn back the clock, erase a signed transfer, or recover assets simply because a suspicious allowance has been removed.

The Revoke.cash FAQ distinguishes approval cleanup from recovery and explains why a compromised seed phrase needs a different response.

That distinction prevents two costly mistakes: assuming disconnection fixes everything, or paying a supposed specialist to perform an impossible reversal.

A legitimate network fee may be required for an onchain change. Verify the destination and purpose rather than accepting a separate payment to an unknown support wallet.

After containment, revisit how the offer reached you. Remove notification permissions or an unsafe extension if relevant, and update bookmarks that pointed toward the wrong site.

Advertisements

Keep the lesson specific. The problem is unauthorized authority granted through an impostor promotion, not that every decentralized application or real wallet is automatically fraudulent.

Check what remains before attempting another action

An address may hold assets on several networks. Make an inventory from trusted wallet views or explorers, and record where permissions or transfers appear.

Don’t move every asset blindly to a destination supplied by someone offering help. Verify the new address yourself, including how it was generated and who controls it.

Advertisements

If assets are held through an exchange rather than a self-custody wallet, contact that exchange about its own access controls. A browser-wallet revocation procedure may not apply.

Likewise, avoid importing recovery words into a new app solely because a stranger recommends it. A supposed repair can become the point where previously private keys are exposed.

Advertisements

If the history is difficult to interpret, seek help with public transaction identifiers. Someone explaining the records does not need your private phrase to read them.

Keep records of any remaining exposure after the first action. A failed revocation or unconfirmed transaction is not the same as a completed permission change.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is rabbysend.site the official Rabby website?

No. The real wallet’s website is rabby.io. This separate reward page uses its identity without establishing authorization from the wallet project.

Advertisements

Will connecting alone empty my wallet?

Connection is not the same as a transfer or unlimited approval. Review what you actually authorized instead of assuming every connection produces an identical outcome.

Advertisements

Does disconnecting cancel token permissions?

Not necessarily. Website connections and onchain permissions are different. Review and revoke unsafe authorizations separately on the networks involved.

Can a hardware wallet make a fake claim safe?

No. Keeping keys on hardware can protect them, but the device cannot make a deliberately approved malicious transaction beneficial. Read the request before confirming it.

What if I entered my recovery phrase?

Consider the phrase compromised. Seek a safe migration to a new wallet with newly generated words, rather than relying only on permission cleanup.

Can an antivirus recover stolen crypto?

No. Security software addresses device threats. Blockchain tracing, account containment, and reporting are separate tasks, and none guarantees that transferred assets will be recovered.

The Bottom Line

Do not connect or approve requests through the rabbysend[.]site airdrop. Its borrowed Rabby identity is not evidence that the reward is authorized.

If you already interacted, inspect the actual authorization history. Revoke unsafe permissions where applicable, treat exposed recovery words seriously, and refuse offers demanding another payment to recover funds.
