Handmadebyveteran.com: Overseas Shipping, 30% Fees and Confusing Returns

By Thomas Orsolya10 min read

Handmadebyveteran.com wraps shirts and other clothing in flags, military references and America’s 250th anniversary. The name makes the purchase feel like something more than another online order.

If supporting veterans or buying American-made apparel is why you clicked, the shipping arrangements and small print deserve your attention before the checkout does.

Overview

The patriotic pitch is not a manufacturing certificate

The homepage describes a small team of veterans and promotes an exclusive anniversary collection. Its shipping policy, however, says products are primarily sourced overseas.

Advertisements

The terms name a Hong Kong operator. That combination is not proof that no veteran works there, but it does not establish American handmade production.

A flag on a shirt and the word veteran in a store name cannot answer who made the garment or where the purchase money goes.

Canceling can be expensive, and return clocks conflict

The FAQ says canceling after an order is placed carries a 30% fee, even immediately. Other wording says orders become locked as soon as they enter the system.

The return information gives three different time references: 45 days, a separate 14-day provision and a 30-day FAQ window. None should be casually substituted for another.

The return destination is supplied on request, making the cost of sending unwanted clothing back difficult to assess before paying.

Customer accounts need context, not selective quoting

  • Some buyers report missing parcels, small sizing or disappointing clothing.
  • Other buyers say shirts arrived and praise their appearance or fabric.
  • Several describe surprise about overseas shipment despite the patriotic presentation.
  • The published policies create concerns independently of any individual review.

This is not a purchase we recommend. The problems concern the actual offer and its conditions, not an assumption that every buyer receives nothing.

The Veteran Story and the Overseas Shipping Disclosure

The store’s homepage positions its clothing around veterans, sacrifice and national pride. That message can influence buyers who want their spending to support a particular community.

Its About page does not explain the advertised team through named founders, a workshop or a description of veterans making the garments.

Instead, it offers a broad lifestyle story about mugs, clothing, home objects and accessories. That is not a supply-chain explanation for the shirts being advertised.

The separate shipping policy is more concrete: most shipments begin overseas, and products are primarily sourced there. Customs processes may affect delivery.

Those disclosures matter more than an American flag graphic. They describe an international retail operation, not a verified local workshop producing each garment by hand.

Overseas sourcing alone does not prove poor workmanship. It does mean buyers should not assume the store name is evidence of domestic manufacture.

Nor is purchasing a patriotic design automatically a donation. If supporting veterans is the goal, look for a specific, documented explanation of that benefit.

Before accepting a manufacturing claim, ask about the exact garment, maker and country. A general statement about a team’s background answers a different question.

Do not pay a premium for a story that the seller has not connected to the product. The clothing and the charitable impression need separate checks.

What Buyers Actually Describe

A BBB Scam Tracker report dated July 17, 2026 describes a $39.47 shirt purchase paid through PayPal.

The reporter says tracking first suggested Italy, then China, and alleges misleading manufacture and origin claims. The report records that person’s account, not an adjudicated finding.

On the exact domain’s Trustpilot profile, an October reviewer describes an order allegedly delivered to a different town and continued difficulty obtaining help.

A November reviewer likes a pullover but says its XXL size feels closer to a small XL. Other entries also raise sizing concerns.

Positive accounts appear too. A June reviewer praises the shirts and printing, reports delivery in two weeks and says the sizing was right.

Another praises the clothing and communication while expressing surprise that American anniversary items came from Ireland. These are not reports of universal nondelivery.

The useful pattern is the gap between expectations and the transaction: origin, delivery and fit can matter even when a buyer likes the shirt.

Reviews are not a substitute for your own order evidence. Public claims about a parcel’s origin also do not establish where every garment was manufactured.

Who You Are Buying From and Where Returns Go

The terms identify a Hong Kong operator

The terms say Handmadebyveteran is operated by YUNSTAR NETWORK TECHNOLOGY Co., LIMITED. They give an address on Fa Yuen Street in Mong Kok, Kowloon.

That is the website’s declared operator, not independently verified proof of a factory, workshop or veteran ownership. The contract also selects Hong Kong law.

Keep the merchant name shown on your receipt or statement. The storefront name, declared operator and payment descriptor may not be identical.

An older report names a different business

The BBB entry uses the label handmadebyveteran.com / Keystone Path Industries Co, LTD. The current terms use YUNSTAR instead.

Advertisements

That difference does not establish that the companies share owners or explain any historical change. Use the details attached to your actual transaction.

If support supplies another company name, ask it to explain that role in writing rather than assuming every name is interchangeable.

Support is published, but service needs more than an address

The return page directs buyers to support@handmadebyveteran.com for the physical return address. The contact page invites questions and points visitors toward the FAQ.

A working-looking email does not tell you how a particular dispute will be handled. Keep the request, response and timing together in your order records.

Do not put card details or identity documents into an ordinary support message. An order number and description of the issue should identify the request.

A dispatch route is not a return destination

The shipping page’s overseas sourcing disclosure does not supply the address for returning a shirt. You must request that separately.

Without a destination and postage instructions, a promise that you can return an item leaves an important practical cost unanswered.

Do not mail a parcel to a guessed office, a tracking hub or an address from another customer. Obtain instructions for your own order.

Advertisements

Canceling an Order Can Trigger a 30% Fee

The FAQ applies the stated cancellation fee from the moment an order is placed. It attributes that fee to payment-processing charges.

That is the merchant’s explanation, not independent confirmation that its processor imposes a 30% cancellation charge.

For a $60 order, 30% is $18. A request made moments after payment can therefore have a substantial stated cost before anything arrives.

The return policy also describes a 30% fee and says cancellation stops when shipment or production begins. Packed orders cannot be canceled.

The Shipping & Delivery page creates further confusion. Its opening says no modifications or cancellations are available once an order enters the system.

Later on that same page, it tells customers to contact support immediately, before warehouse handling starts. The wording does not offer one consistent cutoff.

Advertisements

This is why a discount code is not the main question. You need to understand what happens if you spot a mistake immediately after paying.

If you already ordered, send a clear cancellation request promptly. Preserve the published wording and ask for the exact fee, production status and proposed refund.

Advertisements

Do not assume a merchant’s clause settles every legal or payment dispute. Ask your payment provider about the rights and options applicable to the actual transaction.

Three Return Windows Are Not One Clear Promise

The Return Policy gives a general 45-day period after receipt to initiate a return. It separately describes a 14-day provision excluding personalized products.

The FAQ instead tells dissatisfied customers to contact the store within 30 days of receipt. These pages do not explain how those periods fit together.

Do not choose the longest number and assume it covers your order. Start your request promptly, preserve all three statements and ask which terms support applies.

Condition requirements matter too. The policy requires unused goods in their original condition and packaging, and lists reasons a return may be rejected.

If a shirt is the wrong size, keep its tags, packaging and label intact while documenting the problem. Do not wash or alter it first.

Advertisements

The FAQ asks buyers to report incorrect, missing or defective items within seven days. Another shipping page uses five days for proof relating to transit problems.

Those short notice periods are additional reasons to raise a problem immediately. They are merchant statements, not a complete account of a buyer’s legal rights.

Advertisements

Refund processing also has several estimates. Ask for the date a return was received, the decision and the amount actually approved.

A confirmation that support received an email is different from confirmation that money has been refunded. Check the original payment account for the credit.

Free Shipping Does Not Remove Delivery Risk

The shipping policy advertises free standard delivery from $59, with $9.99 shipping below that threshold. Other pages qualify which orders can use free shipping.

Advertisements

The return page says its free shipping option lacks tracking and attempts to place non-arrival risk on the buyer. It recommends tracked shipping for purchases above $75.

Meanwhile, Shipping & Delivery describes sending tracking details after dispatch. You should not have to guess whether your selected service includes usable tracking.

Before adding another shirt to reach a threshold, confirm the service, expected delivery period and total payable amount. Spending more does not resolve inconsistent terms.

The delivery page says checkout is finalized in USD and warns about possible exchange fees. International customs charges may also affect the cost described there.

Advertisements

Keep the final total and currency from your payment record. A price displayed while browsing is not enough to resolve a later billing disagreement.

What to Do If You Ordered From Handmadebyveteran.com

  1. Build a record of the actual purchase. Save the advertisement, product description, size chart, order confirmation, price, currency and payment descriptor.

Preserve the cancellation and return pages too. If the advertised origin or veteran-production story affected your decision, save the exact claim rather than paraphrasing it.

  2. Raise a cancellation or delivery problem in writing. Include your order number, payment date and the specific outcome you want.

For cancellation, request the production and dispatch status. For a missing parcel, ask for the actual carrier and delivery evidence for your address.

  3. Document clothing before changing its condition. Photograph what arrived, including size labels, packaging, damage and differences from the order.

For a fit dispute, record the garment’s measurements against the size chart you used. Retain everything while asking for instructions.

  4. Get the full return proposal before posting anything. Ask for the destination, authorization, deadline, postage responsibility and amount support proposes to refund.

If a fee or partial settlement is offered, obtain its calculation. Decide whether to accept it only after understanding how it affects the remaining dispute.

  5. Ask the payment provider about an unresolved problem. Explain whether it involves nondelivery, a wrong product, misdescription or an unprocessed refund.

Use its official app or website, provide the evidence and confirm its deadline. A pending support conversation should not make you miss that separate window.

  6. Keep refund confirmation separate from promises. Record the approved amount and reference, then check whether it reaches the account used to pay.

Do not pay a new recovery contact promising to unlock your refund. Someone claiming to help after seeing a public complaint needs independent scrutiny too.

If Buying American-Made or Veteran-Made Clothing Matters

Look for a business that explains who makes the specific garment and where. A named maker’s work is more informative than a patriotic stock-style banner.

Distinguish veteran-owned, veteran-employed, veteran-themed and made in the United States. Those descriptions make different promises and should not be treated as synonyms.

Ask whether the garment itself, its printing or only the design work is domestic. That distinction can change whether the product meets your reason for buying.

For a claimed donation, look for the named beneficiary and the amount or method. Buying a shirt is not proof that a veterans’ organization receives money.

Choose a seller whose production story and customer terms are clear together. A meaningful cause should not require overlooking confusing cancellation and return conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Handmadebyveteran.com a verified American workshop?

The website describes a team of veterans, but its shipping policy says products are primarily sourced overseas. The pages examined do not verify an American garment-making workshop.

Advertisements

Does every buyer receive poor-quality clothing?

No. Public reviews include praise for shirts alongside complaints about sizing, graphics, shipping and nondelivery. Those different experiences do not remove the policy concerns.

What is the cancellation fee?

The FAQ and return policy state 30% after an order is placed. Cancellation may be refused after handling, production or dispatch, with inconsistent wording between pages.

Do I have 14, 30 or 45 days to return an order?

The published pages use all three references without clearly reconciling them. Request a return promptly and keep the policy text rather than relying on the longest number.

Are returns automatically sent to China?

The public return policy supplies no physical destination and tells buyers to email support. Overseas dispatch or a customer’s report does not establish every return address.

What should I do about tracking that says delivered?

Ask the carrier and seller for evidence tied to your address. Preserve discrepancies and contact your payment provider about an unresolved nondelivery claim before its deadline.

The Bottom Line

Do not buy through Handmadebyveteran.com. The overseas sourcing disclosure, immediate stated cancellation fee and conflicting customer terms make this an offer we cannot recommend.

If supporting American veteran makers is your purpose, choose a seller that documents that connection to the actual garment, not merely its patriotic design.

Already paid? Preserve the offer and policies, make a specific written cancellation or refund request, and protect your payment-dispute deadline while keeping received goods unchanged.
