AV-TEST recently released its report comparing various antivirus solutions for home users on Windows 10. The firm found that Microsoft Defender, among others, can be system hogs sometimes.

The article is not convincing because it does not use any comparative statistics. So I made a short one.
The data is taken from the tests in the period November 2022 - June 2023 in the category "Slower launch of standard software applications".

Malwarebytes - 12%, 15%, 16%, 9%, 11%, 7%, 17%, 9% ---> average ~ 12%
Kaspersky .... - 8%, 14%, 10%, 5%, 7%, 3%, 8%, 4% ----> average ~ 7%
Average AV ..- ......9% ...., ......11% , ......7%..., .....10%... ----> average ~ 9%

We can calculate differences:
Malwarebytes - Kaspersky ~ 5%
Malwarebytes - Average AV ~ 3%

So, Malwarebytes can slow the launch of standard applications by 3%. I wonder how many users can feel such a difference.
For example, 3% from 5 s is equal to 0.15 s (a blink of an eye).
Kaspersky is better by two blinks of an eye.
