Avira Antivirus 2019 Experience

I’ve been testing Avira Antivirus 2019 since about two weeks. Think it’s extremely light weight and it’s running smoothly like Norton or Eset. Reading through the forum it feels like most guys over here seem to dislike the product. I do understand that Avira installer offers a lot of additional features, such as Privacy Pal, safe shopping and so on. Call it bloatware or simply just don’t install. Is there some facts I’m missing such as miserable protection? Even privacy reads reasonable...
Anyway, I really appreciate your feedback and advice. By the way, I’m sitting behind a Gryphon router, great product by the way (thanks to Sly Guys recommendation).

Realy is very light with very good signatures. Is good to use it combo with OSArmor and syshardener. And sure web extension because the web protection is very weak. Avira browser safety is very good protection. Many persons tell here is heavy but this extesion is and ad blocker. Or use something else like Emsisoft Browser Security or Malwarebytes extesion.

Many thanks for your feedback. Indeed, I’m quite (positively) surprised with Avira as I didn’t expect a lot. I don’t understand the positive reviews about GData as it’s really heavy on the system. Anyway, I will give Emsisoft Browser Extension a try, though I feel that AdGuard does the job quite well.

Emsisoft Browser Extension is very light and very strong protection.

The heuristics on hi detection level . And install OSArmor because is a real-time behavior blocker and Avira have not After you are super secure

The perfect signatures and help from OSArmor and syshardener and heuristics on hi detection level you have one very strong protection and light on system. I tested one month Avira pro antivirus with many virus with very good results. My favorite antivirus is Avast PRO. But Avira PRO it has left me with the best impressions

My favorite combo;

Thor Premium Home (Avira+Heimdal), Cylance, after Syshardener is executed. This combo is going to protect you from anything in existence. Thor provides all of the benefits of Avira and Heimdal, and the reliability of those signatures. Cylance knocks out APT/ZD's, and Syshardener ensures those scripts and other junk won't run. Zero weight too.

As for the antivirus part of Avira, I actually really like the product. However, I really dislike everything it comes bundled with. I remember when you used to be able to remove the useless junkware before they removed the ability to do so. I would definitely use their antivirus if they would remove all of the bundled software that comes with it. I don't need a dashboard, VPN, junk file remover etc.

Yes, there’s definitely some heavy sales pitch coming with the product. Don’t like this part as well. In terms of bloatware I simply did not choose to install anything. I’m quite happy with the Antivirus itself, running smooth and can’t even feel it on the system. Guess there’s no 100 percent product available...

That's why I like the Thor Home Premium. You get everything good from Avira and bypass the bloat and trashware.. Cylance is your APT/ZeroDay module for it, and you are good to go with no system weight or lags.

The reason i wont touch avira is that web shield doesnt exist on free version and is replaced by extension(?) If you use browser that doesnt support the extension, how do you have access to web filter then

I dont think people here on mt dislike avira, most free av solutions just offer more than avira does

And the pro version the web protection is very weak. The extesion do the job to the two versions.

Whatever computer I tried Avira on, it always brought it to its knees. Its detection might be great, but it is the heaviest AV I know, even worse than WD. I do not understand, how can it excel on other computers, but I guess, there are other variables involved. I never recommend it, rather Adaware.
