App Review Avira Connect Free AV- being Part 3 of the Qihoo Series

It is advised to take all reviews with a grain of salt. In extreme cases some reviews use dramatization for entertainment purposes.
thanks for this illuminating video as always! avira 2017 : more bloat ( launcher - phantom vpn - cleaner and so on ) , still the same ugly gui ( imho ) but almost non excistent protection against zeroday / ransomware. what happened to the days that avira was king of the hill with excellent signatures? as @yigido stated : poor avira users! the devs for sure have to hit the drawingboards again :D cannot wait for your bd free test @cruelsister!!!

Ok Avira's 0 day component isn't so good but if you combine it with comodo firewall or an anti-exe like Voodooshield
you will have a decent protection for your system since Avira signatures are still very good.
Thanks for the review @cruelsister
A failure is a failure and for a company like avira its a shame that they still can't protect against ransom-ware. Adding a decent behaviour blocker into the free version is not going to hurt you M/s Avira....come on do it or the game will be over for you.

Gonna stick the boot in as well,

Apart from the already mentioned bad GUI,no HIPS/BB and bloaty "launchers" etc my main gripe with Avira is it`s insistence on when finding different malwares, starting numerous scans upon scans upon scans until the system resources are swamped and overwhelmed.

Another great video Cruel(to be kind)Sister demonstrating the folly of pure signature based protection.

Regards Eck:)

Bad result for Avira :(.
Avira probably has one of the best signatures/engines. But I remember watching an Avira review and it seems that Avira behaviour consists in just scanning every single file that is launched which is not effective; it would be better if the developers added some strong behavioural module/HIPS that could really enhance the system protection. (Not to mention that Avira Free can scan at most 4 process at a time)
