Like many others, I am encountering an issue with many COM surrogates running simultaneously. Currently there are 27+ COM surrogates running through dllhost in task manager. The task cannot be ended successfully. My computer is running very slowly and it regularly boots me out of active windows (to make them seem inactive) and I need to click in the window again to continue what I am doing with it. Occasionally my computer will also tell me "Your current security settings are preventing this file from being downloaded" when I'm not trying to download anything...
The system is working overtime and making my laptop very very warm to the touch and I'm worried about long-term effects. If I turn of my network connection, the COM surrogates dwindle but do not completely go away (maybe down to 3 at the lowest?) I've tried multiple scans and some other solutions such as turning of visible thumbnails, because of some of the solutions that I've seen since I started searching for a solution. I've noticed that this forum has been able to help others with similar issues.
Thank you for your time.
