The infection started approximately 3 - 4 weeks ago. A tab pops up in Chrome that would suggest downloading un Adobe Flash update. When dialog box is closed, an exe file is downloaded anyway. Sometime McAfee identifies this as a PUP and suggests removal. Initially also, there were in page ads popping up. Some times pages would be redirected to random sites - usually gambling. Recently, the download suggestions have started to include Java updates. I seem to have been able to remove the in page ad pop ups but other symptoms prevail. Sometime I get a page warning that I am about to proceed to a phishing site.
I have followed numerous removal guides on this site and others. Clean browsers (extensions, search engines), Change DNS to google server, remove unwanted/recently installed file, run AdwCleaner, Run Malwarebytes, Run Hitman Pro, Run McAfee Anti Virus. This identifies and lists PUPs for removal and that seems to temporarily clean the system but it seems to re-spawn.
