Is it even possible anymore to restore this OS? ~ March of 2012. The usual FBI screen would appear. The more I rebooted the machine the worse it got, until it froze at the Microsoft Windows XP startup screen in all modes. I created another partition and loaded Win 7 (dual boot) and left XP alone. I now want to restore this XP drive. I created an up to date bootable Kaspersky Rescue Disk as per the instructions. The program found three infections that were deleted. 1: Trojan.js.plugator.a 2: Exploit.win32.direktshow.a 3: Exploit.win32.pidief.bja. The system still freezes at the same Microsoft Windows XP startup screen.
