While everyone knows that Google Chrome is an extremely popular web browser, in the past month, Google’s web browser has managed to attract quite a few new users.

In August, Chrome had a market share of 46.26 percent, up from the 45.24 percent it had in July, as data from reveals.

Internet Explorer continues to drop in popularity, with its market share sitting at 20.31 percent in August, down from 21.39 percent compared to the previous month. Firefox continued to have pretty much the same fanbase, as the browser holds 17.5 percent market share, 0.02 percent under the July results.

Apple’s Safari has managed to attract some new users, too. Its 10.81 percent market share is a bit above the 10.62 percent from July. Opera was being used by 1.47 percent of users, up from 1.39 percent the month before. The missing percentages up to 100 go to a mix of other browsers.

As far as the world’s favorite browser versions go, Chrome 36 takes the top position with 34.8 percent market share. In the previous month, when it had only just been released, this version of the browser only had a 12.69 percent adoption.

Firefox 31 follows on the second position with 13.12 percent market share, while Internet Explorer 11 comes in third, with 9.1 percent share. Safari for iPad takes over the fourth place with 6.38 percent market share, while Internet Explorer 9 wraps up the top five.

Google’s Chrome is the favorite browser in more and more countries around the globe. The United States, Canada, all nations in South Africa, most of Europe, Northern and Southern areas of Africa, a very large part of Asia, as well as Australia and New Zealand are all using Chrome preponderantly.

Firefox is flagged as the number 1 choice in several nations in the central regions of Africa, Germany and Austria, Syria, Iran, Myanmar and Bangladesh, as well as Indonesia. Microsoft’s web browser is the primary choice for users in Japan and Papua New Guinea. Safari has managed to take the top spot in Greenland.

Apple’s browser managed to become the most used app of its kind in Greenland back in July. It now has a 35.09 percent market share, with Internet Explorer following behind with 28.29 percent. Chrome managed to attract 24.28 percent of users. Even so, it’s less than it had in the previous month, when the market share reached 42.22 percent.
