Google Chrome continues to lead the chart of the most popular browsers in the world, with a pretty high adoption rate.

Google’s web browser has lost a bit of its popularity from August to September, but it’s nothing alarming. From August’s 46.26 percent market share it slipped to 45.57 percent, which isn’t a very dramatic drop, data from StatCounter reveals.

Internet Explorer has obtained a few more users and had a market share of 20.45 percent, up from 20.31 the previous month.

Mozilla’s Firefox browser maintained a pretty steady number of users, being used by 17.45 percent of Internet users, down from the 17.5 percent from August. Apple’s Safari, on the other hand, has grown in popularity. The company’s web browser went from 10.81 percent in August to 11.22 percent market share in September.

Opera, once a leader in browser innovation has now sunk even further. Its market share has dropped from 1.47 percent to 1.4 percent.

Out of the bunch, Chrome 37 is the most used of them all, indicating a high adoption rate for Google’s latest web browser update. 30.4 percent of Internet users have upgraded to the latest Chrome build.

Internet Explorer 11 comes in second with 9.23 percent market share, while Firefox 32 is next with 8.43 percent. The Safari for iPad is used by 6.57 of Internet users, while Chrome 36 wraps up the top five chart with 5.97 percent market share.

Chrome is the top choice in most countries in the world
When it comes to world domination, Chrome continues to have the upper hand. The Google web browser is the top choice of users in most countries around the Globe, including North and South America, most of Europe, Russia, a good part of Asia, countries in the North and South of Africa, Australia and New Zealand.

Firefox continues to be the most used browser in Germany and Austria, nations in central Africa, Syria and Iran, Myanmar and Indonesia, to name just a few. Internet Explorer is the browser of choice for people in Japan and Papua New Guinea. Safari manages to maintain its grip on Greenland, however, where it is used by 38.73 percent of Internet users.

The browser war carries on and even though there may be some differences between various areas of the world, it’s clear that people are leaning towards Chrome. What’s more important, however, is not that people are using one brand or another, but that they’re using the latest versions which means that they’re safer while browsing the Internet.
