Google Glass and other similar wearables now officially banned in U.S Movie Theaters
The MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) and the National Association of Theatre Owners (NATO) announced on Wednesday that they have officially banned the use of Google Glass or any other similar tech wearables inside any movie theatre based in United States. This announcement came after MPAA and NATO found that these kind of tech was used to record movies illegally and then smuggle them out of the theatre.

This are then exploited as CamRips on the torrent sites and web storage sites like mega causing loss to the producers of the movies.

The MPAA said that these wearables pose a significant threat to the film making industry which, it said, loses billions of Dollars a year due to such kind of smuggling and piracy.

“As part of our continued efforts to ensure movies are not recorded in theaters, however, we maintain a zero-tolerance policy toward using any recording device while movies are being shown,” MPAA and NATO stated in a joint statement.

“As has been our long-standing policy, all phones must be silenced and other recording devices, including wearable devices, must be turned off and put away at show time. Individuals who fail or refuse to put the recording devices away may be asked to leave,” they added.

Earlier this year in January, FBI had dragged a man out of theater for wearing a Google Glass. The FBI had been called in after the theater staff suspected that he was engaged in camcorder piracy. However FBI conceded they’d made a big mistake later and released the man.

Anyways, if you are heading to a movie theater near you for a weekend movie, its better to leave your Google Glass back at your home or you may be asked to take it off by the theater attendants.
