Users of Outlook.com can create multiple Alias accounts to use as they wish around the web.
By default, once an Alias account is created, you can use that email (whether Primary or not) to Log in to Microsoft services. This becomes a security risk, if for example, the sites' users' credentials are exposed to the public.
As always, I recommend using 2-Factor Authentication to protect your account, but you can take a further step and is far easier, but combined will strengthen your Microsoft / Outlook account against cyber-criminals.
You can limit which Alias accounts are allowed to be used as Log in credentials, along with the primary email password Note: Primary and Alias accounts are under ONE main account holder, hence why the same password is used.
1. Open your Microsoft Account > Manage Account > Sign-in Preferences
To manage your aliases, go here: https://account.live.com/names/Manage
Or directly change your Sign-in Preferences here: https://account.live.com/SignInPreferences
2. Un-check all boxes, except for your primary (greyed out) and SAVE the changes.
You will NOT be able to Log in to any Microsoft services of the Alias account you have de-selected. Your Primary alias cannot be unmarked.
