Please post a malware problem here http://malwaretips.com/forums/malware-removal-assistance.10/ for assistance

As for your security config, there isn't much information

MBAM Free is not real time protection.Consider a Free AV such as Avast,Panda,Bitdefender,Avira,Avast
Use MBAM Free as an on demand scanner.
CCleaner or Privazer
Some type of back up solution
Any extensions for Chrome? Consider uBlock & HTTPS Everywhere

Thanks for sharing @jamie-lee jansen.:) By following the links provided by you both member and staff (above) you'll be well on your way to returning your system to a better state!

With Windows 8.1 you could use Windows Defender in the mean time, but there are other highly effective real time protections available. @exterminator20's suggestions are solid & long lasting enough that even after over 2 years, I still follow in his experienced footsteps!;)

Although I do not test malware yet I'll mention Virtual Box for you (..I like it as testing ground for linux) as it provides a safer environment for your exploration of malware.
You can read about it on one of the safe sites, Softpedia.
If you download, this can also be performed directly from Oracle's active developer's site, a good practice in trust.:)

First thing also is to upgrade from Windows 8.1

MBAM is a companion AV/scanner so you need a fine tune Antivirus which you can choose a lot of them. (Avira, Avast, AVG, or Qihoo)

Extensions are Adguard and HTTPS Everywhere as possible for both browser.

Anyway do you have another computer which is infected or this setup? Since the removal experts will diagnose for any possible Java/Adobe malicious installation.
