One in five DDoS attacks last for days or even weeks

According to a survey conducted by Kaspersky Lab and B2B International, more than one out of five company hit by DDoS attacks has experienced problems for several days or even weeks. The consequences of a DDoS attack range from restricting access to online services for a total inaccessibility. A minor accident can also lead to financial losses.

Research has involved representatives of companies hit by DDoS attacks respondents concerning the durability of the attacks and the impact on the operation of the business sites, services and infrastructure. From the findings, in 13% of cases the attack caused the total failure of the operation while 52% reported delays in waiting to access the service. For 33% of respondents, there have been slight delays in loading pages while 29% of attacks has led to the failure of certain transactions.

With regard to the duration of the attacks, the 32% of respondents reported consequences for several hours. However, according to the findings, the 21% of the attacks had a duration of between 48 hours and several weeks.
