Hello,

They call me TwinHeadedEagle around here, and I'll be working with you.

Before we start please read and note the following:
  • At the top of your post, please click on the "Watch thread" button and make sure to check Watch this thread...and receive email notifications. This will send an email to you as soon as I reply to your topic, allowing me to solve your problem faster.
  • Please do not install any new software during the cleaning process other than the tools I provide for you. This can hinder the cleaning process. Please do not perform System Restore or any other restore.
  • Instructions I give to you are very simple and made for complete beginner to follow. That's why you need to read through my instructions carefully and completely before executing them.
  • Please do not run any tools other than the ones I ask you to, when I ask you to. Some of these tools can be very dangerous if used improperly. Also, if you use a tool that I have not requested you use, it can cause false positives, thereby delaying the complete cleaning of your machine.
  • All tools we use here are completely clean and do not contain any malware. If your antivirus detects them as malicious, please disable your antivirus and then continue.
  • If during the process you run across anything that is not in my instructions, please stop and ask. If any tool is running too much time (few hours), please stop and inform me.
  • I visit forum several times at day, making sure to respond to everyone's topic as fast as possible. But bear in mind that I have private life like everyone and I cannot be here 24/7. So please be patient with me. Also, some infections require less, and some more time to be removed completely, so bear this in mind and be patient.
  • Please stay with me until the end of all steps and procedures and I declare your system clean. Just because there is a lack of symptoms does not indicate a clean machine. If you solved your problem yourself, set aside two minutes to let me know.
  • Please attach all report using
    fjqb1h.png
button below. Doing this, you make it easier for me to analyze and fix your problem.

  • Do not ask for help for your business PC. Companies are making revenue via computers, so it is good thing to pay for the repair.
  • If I don't hear from you within 3 days from this initial or any subsequent post, then this thread will be closed.

Scan with Farbar Recovery Scan Tool

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatibale with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them.
Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.

  • Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Press Scan button.
  • It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your reply.
  • The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply.

I agree to your terms and conditions. I don't know if malware can cause internet connection problems but I had to reboot my modem twice last night within 30mins time. After that I experienced the worst lagging I've ever had on this computer. It was so bad I had a hard time getting the cursor over x box to click programs closed. Today after a reboot my windows store icon has disappeared, when I hover the cursor over it the box for it highlights but the picture is gone. I tried downloading and using the FRST64 scan again and was successful, I've attached the files. Thank you for your help in removing what ever this or these are.

The three taskbar icons haven't come back, the disappearing COM Surrogates are still in task manager. If there is anything else I can't tell yet.

And the ads (it's a banner on the side of the screen) in my free app are struggling to load and then there is a quick flash of 2 or 3 then it settles on an ad when it's time for the ad to switch it does the same thing again.

OK, do you think I should run a SFC.exe or a chkdsk to try and fix what I'm seeing, maybe it's a little file damage from the malware?

I tried but I can't figure out how to take a pic of the app side by side with the immersive browser open. I should've asked you before if you know how take a screenshot with an app on the left and internet explorer 11 immersive browser on the right. Here is a better description of what I'm talking about. It's a free app that I've had for a long time and I believe the ad feed has been hijacked (possibly by feed.click.net there is always a tab for it but it's blank among other tabs that are shopping websites or a fake news site here and there). While putting a puzzle together banner ads are displayed on the left side of the puzzle board and they slowly change, that's normal play. The hijack is a couple of normal ads are shown first then suddenly an ad that doesn't fit the banner box will appear and at the same time IE 11's immersive browser view will open on the right side of the screen as a side by side or slit screen view. The webpage is always one I've never been to and my hide tabs has more webpages open sometimes 3 or more. It will continue to do this the entire time the app is open. I do have a snip shot of my icons losing their id images one by one. On the left side of the taskbar starting at the windows start screen icon you should see 11 but only 8 showing. After the windows defender icon you should see the windows store and then those 2 translucent boxes are Magic Puzzles and then IE 11 immersive browser. Hope this helps.

Yes it's the only app that has a banner ad, the others are Microsoft games and they show commercials.

Would you know why the 2 COM Surrogates disappear after 2-3 seconds of opening task manager ( opens showing processes)? I've seen a process disappear that fast, especially 2 duplicate processes.
