By using a fake website, scammers can also obtain sensitive information like personal and financial data, which they can use for other fraudulent activities.
How does the “Your Bitcoin Wallet Has Been Credited” scam email work?
The scammers behind this email scam use various techniques to make their message look convincing and legitimate. Some of these techniques include:

The scammers may also use stolen email lists and other leaked user information to target thousands of people at once. They may also use different variations of the email subject line, content, and website URL to avoid detection by spam filters and antivirus software.
How can you protect yourself from the “Your Bitcoin Wallet Has Been Credited” scam email?
To avoid falling victim to this email scam or any other phishing attempt, you should follow these best practices:
- Do not open or reply to unsolicited or suspicious emails that claim to have good news or offer rewards for you.
- Do not click on any links or attachments in such emails, as they may lead you to malicious websites or download malware onto your device.
- Do not enter any personal or financial information on websites that you are not familiar with or that do not have a secure connection (look for a padlock icon and https:// in the address bar).
- Do not use the same password for multiple accounts or services, especially those related to your cryptocurrency wallet. Use strong and unique passwords that are hard to guess or crack.
- Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) on your cryptocurrency wallet and other online accounts that support it. This adds an extra layer of security by requiring a code sent to your phone or email in addition to your password.
- Keep your device and browser updated with the latest security patches and antivirus software.
- Report any phishing emails or websites that you encounter to the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov and to the company or service that they are impersonating.
