Mixi DJ Toolbar is a browser hijacker, which is promoted via other free downloads, and once installed it will add the Mixi DJ Community Toolbar, change your browser homepage to search.conduit.com, and set your default search engine to MixiDJ V31 Customized Web Search.

The MixiDJ V31 Customized Web Search will display advertisements and sponsored links in your search results, and may collect search terms from your search queries. The Mixi DJ Toolbar infection is used to boost advertising revenue, as in the use of blackhat SEO, to inflate a site’s page ranking in search results.

The Mixi DJ Toolbar it’s technically not a virus, but it does exhibit plenty of malicious traits, such as rootkit capabilities to hook deep into the operating system, browser hijacking, and in general just interfering with the user experience. The industry generally refers to it as a “PUP,” or potentially unwanted program.

Mixi DJ Toolbar got on your computer after you have installed a freeware software (video recording/streaming, download-managers or PDF creators) that had bundled into their installation this browser hijacker. This browser hijacker is also bundled within the custom installer on many download sites (examples: CNET, Brothersoft or Softonic), so if you have downloaded a software from these websites, chances are that Mixi DJ Toolbar was installed during the software setup process.
Very often users have no idea where did it come from, so it’s not surprising at all that most of them assume that the Mixi DJ Toolbar is a virus.

For example, when you install VAF Player, you will also agree to change your browser homepage to search.conduit.com, set your default search engine to MixiDJ V31 Customized Web Search, and install the Mixi DJ Toolbar.

STEP 1 : Uninstall Mixi DJ Toolbar program from your computer

In this first step, we will try to identify and remove any malicious program that might be installed on your computer.

  1. To uninstall Mixi DJ Toolbar from your computer, click the Start button, then select Control Panel, and click on Uninstall a program.
    If you are using Windows 8, simply drag your mouse pointer to the right edge of the screen, select Search from the list and search for “control panel“. Or you can right-click on a bottom left hot corner (formerly known as the Start button) and select Control Panel from there, then select Uninstall a program.

  2. When the Add/Remove Programs or the Uninstall a Program screen is displayed, scroll through the list of currently installed programs and uninstall Search Protect by conduit, MixiDJ V31 Toolbar for IE, ValueApps, BitGuard, BrowserProte and any other recently installed or unknown programs from your computer.

If you are having issues while trying to uninstall the Mixi DJ Toolbar, you can use Revo Uninstaller to completely remove this unwanted program from your machine.

Depending on what program has installed the Mixi DJ Community Toolbar, the above program may have a different name or not be installed on your computer. If you cannot find any unwanted or unknown programs on your machine, then you can proceed with the next step.

STEP 2 : Remove Mixi DJ Toolbar from Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome

  4. When Internet Explorer finishes resetting, click Close in the confirmation dialogue box and then click OK.
  5. Close and open Internet Explorer.

Remove Mixi DJ Toolbar from Mozilla Firefox

  1. Remove Mixi DJ Toolbar extensions from Firefox.
    At the top of the Firefox window, click the orange Firefox button, then select Add-ons.

    Select the Extensions tab, then remove MixiDJ V31, ValueApps and any other unknown extensions from Mozilla Firefox.

  2. Reset your default search engine and homepage from MixiDJ V31 Customized Web Search to their default.
    To reset your search engine and homepage to their default, we will use the SearchReset extension.This add-on is very simple: on installation, it backs up and then resets your search preferences and home page to their default values, and then uninstalls itself. This affects the search bar, URL bar searches, and the home page.
    You can download SearchReset from the below link, and then we will just need to install it to revert Firefox to its default settings.

Remove Mixi DJ Toolbar from Google Chrome

  1. Remove Mixi DJ Toolbar extensions from Google Chrome.
    Click the Chrome menu Chrome menu  button on the browser toolbar, select Tools and then click on Extensions.

    In the Extensions tab, remove MixiDJ V31, ValueApps and any other unknown extensions by clicking the trash can [Image: Remove an extension from Chrome] icon.
    Basically, if you have not installed an extension, you should remove it from your web browser.

  2. Set Google Chrome default search engine from MixiDJ V31 Customized Web Search to Google.
    Click the Chrome menu Chrome menu  button, then select Settings and click on Manage search engines in the Search section.
    In the Search Engines dialog that appears, select Google and click the Make Default button that appears in the row.

    Search for Conduit in the Search Engines list, and click the X button that appears at the end of the row.

  3. Change Google Chrome homepage from search.conduit.com to its default.
    Conduit has modified your Google settings to open their webpage whenever you start your browser, so we will need to revert this change.
    Click the Chrome menu Chrome menu  button, then select Settings and click on One the New Tab page in the On Startup section.

STEP 3: Remove Mixi DJ Toolbar browser hijacker with AdwCleaner

  1. You can download AdwCleaner utility from the below link.
    ADWCLEANER DOWNLOAD LINK (This link will automatically download AdwCleaner on your computer)
  2. Before starting AdwCleaner, close all open programs and internet browsers, then double-click on the AdwCleaner icon.

    If Windows prompts you as to whether or not you wish to run AdwCleaner, please allow it to run.
  3. When the AdwCleaner program will open, click on the Scan button as shown below.

    AdwCleaner will now start to search for Mixi DJ Toolbar malicious files that may be installed on your computer.
  4. To remove the Mixi DJ Toolbar malicious files that were detected in the previous step, please click on the Clean button.

    AdwCleaner will now prompt you to save any open files or data as the program will need to reboot the computer. Please do so and then click on the OK button.

STEP 4: Remove Mixi DJ Toolbar virus from with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free

  1. You can download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free from the below link, then double-click on the icon named mbam-setup.exe to install this program.

  2. When the installation begins, keep following the prompts in order to continue with the setup process, then at the last screen click on the Finish button.

  3. On the Scanner tab, select Perform quick scan, and then click on the Scan button to start searching for the Mixi DJ Toolbar malicious files.

  4. Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware will now start scanning your computer for Mixi DJ Toolbar as shown below.

  5. When the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware scan has finished, click on the Show Results button.

  6. You will now be presented with a screen showing you the computer infections that Malwarebytes Anti-Malware has detected. Make sure that everything is Checked (ticked), then click on the Remove Selected button.

STEP 5: Double-check for the Mixi DJ Toolbar infection with HitmanPro

  1. You can download HitmanPro from the below link:

  2. Double-click on the file named HitmanPro.exe (for 32-bit versions of Windows) or HitmanPro_x64.exe (for 64-bit versions of Windows). When the program starts you will be presented with the start screen as shown below.

  3. HitmanPro will now begin to scan your computer for Mixi DJ Toolbar malicious files.

    If you already sent crypto: stop paying, save evidence (wallet addresses, TXIDs, chats), and report the scam to the platform used.

  8. Secure your accounts with unique passwords and 2FA (start with email).

    Use a password manager and unique passwords for every account. Enable 2FA using an authenticator app when possible.

    If you suspect an account takeover: change passwords, sign out of all devices, and review recent logins and recovery settings.

  9. Back up important files and keep one backup offline.

    If you suspect infection: do not connect backup drives until the system is clean.

  10. If you think you are a victim: stop losses, document evidence, and escalate fast.

    • Stop payments and contact: do not send more money or respond to the scammer.
    • Call your bank or card issuer: block transactions, replace the card if needed, and start a dispute or chargeback.
    • Secure your email first: change the email password, enable 2FA, and remove unfamiliar recovery options.
    • Secure other accounts: change passwords, enable 2FA, and log out of all sessions.
    • Scan your device: remove suspicious apps or extensions, then run a full malware scan.
    • Save evidence: screenshots, emails, order pages, tracking pages, wallet addresses, TXIDs, and chat logs.
    • Report it: to the payment provider, marketplace, social platform, exchange, or wallet service involved.

These rules are intentionally simple. Most online losses happen when decisions are rushed. Slow down, verify independently, and use payment methods and account controls that give you recourse.

  1. Thanks for your help. I followed all your steps to get rid of MixiDJ so I am able to use all three browsers with seeing it again.

    However, every I restart my computer now I get two RunDLL pop up windows which say the following:

    – There was a problem starting C:Program Files(x86)ConduitCT3298573pluginsTBVerifier.dll
    The specified module could not be found.

    – There was a problem starting C:UsersMALIAppDataRoamingBabSolutionSharedNTRedirect.dll
    The specified module could not be found.

    Any idea how to clear this too. Thanks for your help again.

      The infection has been removed, however it seems that it left behind a harmless start-up registry key.

      To remove this, we can run Ccleaner:

      1. Download Ccleaner from here: https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download/standard

      2. Install Ccleaner and start this utility, click the Tools icon at left, then click the Startup button.

      3. In the Startup screen, you’ll see a list of all items that have been set to start automatically with Windows.

      4. Select for Conduit, and any other programs that you don’t want to start with Windows, then do one of the following:

      To prevent a program from starting with Windows, select the program entry and click Disable.

      To prevent a program from starting with Windows and to remove it from the auto-start list, select the program entry and click Delete.

  5. Malawarebytes didn’t help me at all..it showed no threats…I did a scan with Hitman pro and it showed 2336 threats. I am still not sure if all those steps will help, I have noo idea how I managed to download this mixidj but it ruined my computer, it slowed it to death.I almost can’t use it anymore.

    All the programs that I recommend are 100% safe! I would never suggest a program that I myself would not use.
    McAfee alert is a false positive detection, which you can ignore. Alternatively, for your peace of mind, you can upload the adwcleaner installer to virustotal.com, to be check for malware…..
